I've seen big raises for Asst. Coaches in my time. But 225K?

People keep coming after these two with big checkbooks. If Chavis wanted to be a head coach he could be one right now making $1.5 million. But Hell, he can stay right here and make $1.2 million with NONE of the stress and responsibilities of being a head coach. What a fine job to retire at!

Wilson's raise was to keep him here another year. He will be a head coach soon making 7 figures. Meanwhile he's valuable to us. We wont have to pay that forever.

As long as Chavis has held a DC position, I'm of the feeling that he's not one of those coaches looking for the head position. You know, something like Mickey Andrews and his time at FSU. There were some schools that contacted Mickey about HC positions and from what I understand he always said he was content.

Word is that Chief is content at LSU. Many have left for greener pastures, but at times the grass is greener due to the natural fertilizer (Manure) added. Remember Larry Porter, Joe Rob, etc. Sometimes the move looks great from the start, but may not end that way, seen this too many times. Many coaches turn down jobs for more money, sometimes its not about the money, many put family first. In coaching, many times its the right fit, many times its, if you can fill a staff at that school.

My guess is that Chief ain't going anywhere and will be here at LSU as long as we'll have him.

I would agree with that. Any move now would be lateral, at best.

I've had a few discussions with people who have suggested that DC's in the league are better compensated than those in high level college positions. I did some research in the fall of last year to combat some saying our DC might be looking at returning to the NFL for more money. I'm not sure this is the exact figure, to the best of my recollection the highest paid NFL DC last fall was receiving $700K: Wade Phillips.

That leads me to this thought/question. I wonder what the profit margin is for most NFL franchises when compared to what football programs make in SEC institutions.
