It's the lips and assholes tax. You pay that specifically for foods made with those parts. Everybody does, really. Buy a can of spam and see what happens.
I guarantee I would have only paid $2.18. If the cashier couldn't get it right, the hot dog would have been left right there on the counter and I would have taken the time to call management company and let them know of their employee's incompetence. Bengal must not know how to stand up for himself. As for tipping, I am probably the most generous tipper here. Never less than 20%, typically 30% for decent service. Lots of times I'll go way above that. I'm frugal elsewhere so that I can be a big tipper . Lunch yesterday was $22. I left $30. $8 tip equals 36%. Young lady serving me needs it more than I do. BTW @tirk , I give away over 10% of my gross income every year to charity. What about you?
I swear I initially read this as "young lady serving my needs is more than I do". That's admirable. We all should.
Those Circle K's are a regular gang of organized criminals. I was almost ripped off again this morning. Different Circle K. I had decided to try one of those electronic cigarettes. $9.99. I also bought a newspaper. 75 cents. Not sure about the sales tax on a paper. If you just buy nothing but a paper you pay 75 cents and no tax but I don't know if tax is added on the paper when you purchase it along with other products. Let's say they do 9% of $10.75 is 97 cents. Total should be $11.72. Register rang up $13 and something. I caught it before I swiped my card and the clerk rang it up again with the correct price. They must be cheating people out of thousands of dollars a day just here in Baton Rouge not to mention wherever else the have stores. I don't know who owns Circle K. A corporation but what nefarious person pulls the strings. A good portion of the independent convenience stores are owned by mooslems. I wouldn't be surprised if Circle K was sending the money they rip off from us to ISIS or Al Quada.
of I am wary about giving to organized charities, unless you consider the NRA a charity which I don't. From 75% to 90% of the money raised by big time charities goes for administrative costs, salaries and more fund raising. The worst is the United Way who practically strong arms businesses into coercing their employees to donate a percentage of their salaries. Right after the Twin Towers were destroyed on 9/11 the president of the United Way in New York spent $80,000 of the money people had donated to help the families of the victims on a new desk for his office. He also spent several thousand dollars on paintings for the office. I would rather put a few dollars into a jar at a store or something when I see a picture of a kid with cancer or who has been horribly injured Directly help the person and the families. I want to help dogs and cats but the SPCA and Humane Society kills a large number of the animals that fall into their clutches. Even PETA, which I don't support at all kills 90% of the dogs and cats they get. I would support curing cancer if the charities actually spent the money on research to cure cancer. Same with veterans if an organization w9uld use all of their money actually helping veterans. As far as tipping I tip well for good service and reasonably for OK service but if I get really bad service I will stiff the waiter or waitress in a heartbeat. I won't leave nothing at all but I will leave a quarter or 50 cents so they won't think I just forgot. Better way to make sure they get the message.
100% of donations to UMCOR go toward helping people. The United Methodist Church pays any overhead/admin costs out of church funds.
