The combined East Baton Rouge Parish and state sales tax in Baton Rouge is 9%. A sign by the hot Dog roller at Circle K says a hot dog and a 20 ounce Polar Pop fountain drink is $2. So that's $2.18 with the tax, right? Cashier rang up $2.46. Normally I would be buying something else along with it so I wouldn't notice but today all I got was the hot dog and drink. When I said something to the clerk, Ammonialeta she said that's how it's set in the register. I know that the registers in those stores are made to be almost idiot proof so it's probably not her fault. OK, I'm bitching about an additional 28 cents. Big deal. But how many people are getting ripped off like this every day? With all the Circle K stores in town probably thousands every day.
Is she a new cashier? I often get a certain size fountain drink at a friend's store. It costs 1 dollar. If new hires punch the wrong button it rings up as over a dollar. It's a matter of punching a "Food item" or "Non food item" key, I think.
Eating 1 every couple of weeks won't hurt. Their chili sauce sucks though. The chili at 7-11 is much better but there are no 7-11s in Baton Rouge any more. Circle K also bought out the Exxon On The Run stores. On the Run had Krispy Keene donuts and Circle K doesn't.
Not new. They shift them around to other stores a lot. Probably to keep them from getting to know the regular customers and start giving them free stuff.
KyleK fees your plight. Yalls struggle is real. Consider it a tip. It's about the amount tip y'all would leave anyhow. Combined.
Always check your Walgreens receipts. I've been misrung there 5 times. I keep going back because of the points and you can coupon some really good deals.
