Trent Johnson seems to have had an immediate impact. I realize it's not the toughest competition but I think Johnson will have us on the positive side of the Win Loss column this year.

I'm excited about him as our coach. A couple of promising freshman in Warren and Bass along with some experience could make for an interesting year. I look for the Tigers to surprise come people this year.

I've been to the Northwestern and Centenary games. They look to be progressing nicely. I'll be at the Troy game tomorrow.

Bass plays at 100 miles an hour. Johnson has to reign him in sometimes but he looks to be a good player. Warren is another good one. Farrar is pretty impressive considering I really didn't think he would be much of an impact but he is always 1st off the bench. Plays smart and has begun to limit his turnovers. I think by far Spenser is the best surprize so far. I think we have a true PG now.

Reading some of Trent Johnson's post-game quotes, he seems like exactly the kind of coach LSU needs. He makes sure the players don't rest on their laurels and realizes there's a lot of work to be done before they can be an SEC threat. I like his attitude and the players seem to be responding to his style of leadership. One thing I like so far is how the team has been able to get fairly consistent scoring from the bench, and that's an element that's been sorely lacking in previous Tiger teams.

I hope he is a guy that can restore some of the glory days of LSU basketball. I grew a huge fan of Dale Brown and his late 70's early 80's teams. They were fun to watch.

The only real knocks on the team right now, which was evident again vs. Centenary, is that they still have a tendency to play sloppy ball at times with a lot of unnecessary turnovers, taking quick/bad shots and problems with rebounding. I'm sure the first two can be corrected in fairly short order, the third isn't really surprising but may be tough to overcome this year.

But what was really impressive last night was how they absolutely smothered Centenary on defense for 35 minutes. That was beautiful. :thumb:

I like the new coach also... I sure hope he can get a big man for next year or we are gonna be looking up at all of our opponents literally...

We will lose our share of games this year but I'll bet we will be competitive in most of our games. TJ seems to be a guy who will challenge the players.

I'm the same way...people who are under 25 never really experienced consistency so the popularity of the games has declined among the students and the recent grads. I hope that changes and we can have a consistent team again where the only worry was where we will be seeded in the NCAA tourney and not whether we go or not. I loved missing 7:30 classes to wait for tickets in the regional. :bball:

I like how he is getting his bench some playing time in these blowouts.
