I think you are giving Arkansas a little too much credit for their defensive efforts on the final drive of that game.
You might be giving LSU, Les and Cam too little credit for their offensive efforts in that final drive of that game.
Jennings looked amazing in that last series with the game on the line and one chance to go 100 yards to win the game. He did what Mett was unable to do at UGA on the last series. Chew on that for a minute (and please don't be impressed with the pathetic defense UGA fielded last year.)
Honestly, Arkansas defense is always impressive when they play against LSU. But I was much more impressed with LSU's offense on that final drive. That loss would have hurt like hell!
My daughter was so excited that she was there for one of the plays (the TD) that will inevitably get put into that 4th Quarter montage they play in Tiger Stadium.
With the quarterbacks and wide receivers green enough to win an environmental award the offense greatly hinges on the O Line, which this year just may be the best in the NCAA. With only three running backs Terrance Magee will probably get the nod in the opener just because of his eperience and last year's productivity. Kenny Hilliard showed flashes of brilliance his freshman year but for whatever reasons has regressed. But if Leonard Fournette lives up the the hype it could be like 1980 with Georgia and Hershell Walker all over again. I haven't seen him but everybody on the team seems to be excited about what he has shown just in OTBs. Even Les Miles is calling him The Michael Jordan of Football. If he is that once in a generation special player the sky is the limit. If he really turns out to be the next Adrian Peterson, Bo Jackson and Barry Sanders all rolled into one we can all wad up our predictions and throw them in the trash. I might even start to like that ugly new College Playoff Trophy
LSU had a good line last year, to return 4 of the starting 5 is big time. Having a couple more that started games last year and played a number of plays helps. Magee led the team with 7.3 ypc last year, kind of a forgotten guy from 2012. Cam saw a player that could help them and took him from the WR position and got someone that could help the offense right away. Magee finished with 8 rushing TD's, Hilliard finished with 7 rushing TD's, both should do well this year with LF coming into the fold. Don't forget Darrel Williams, offers from over 20 schools and stats to follow: 2013 Stats: 222 carries, 2,201 yards, 32 TDs, 6 receptions, 365 yards, 3 TDs. I know Les used Michael Jordan in his talk about Leonard Fornette, but most I know use the name Adrian Peterson when talking about him. One guy talking at SEC Day, used the name Marshall Faulk, when speaking of LF. That just tells me that he can do what he wants, he has the same chance as everyone, its what he does with it. I haven't seen many like him in my lifetime, this would also be out of state kids in this mix. I remember talking with a college coach when Adrian Peterson was coming out, I asked him where he thought Peterson would end up? His reply, "Wherever his Dad tells him."
Wasn't Peterson's Dad in prison when he signed with Oklahoma? Remembering how excited I got about Russell Shepard I don't want to get excited about LF until I see him play but hearing all the hype even from Les I can't help myself
