The NY Giants have no desire to win. They signed Cough to a 1 yr extension today. Basically saying they want one more yr of mediocrity under this dipchit. Cough is a self-proclaimed disciplinarian, yet his team did nothing but talk bad about him all year. Next year could get real ugly.

But you know who I feel for the most................T.O. Why you ask, cause if the Cough fiasco gets real bad next year, T.O. might not be the headline next season. What will he do? :(

Actually I was gonna post a thread on this.

But to SabanFan's shock, I was gonna post that this was a very smart move on the Giants part. Follow me on this one.

The Giants are positioning themselves for the Bill Cowher sweepstakes. This event will either occur after 2007 or after the 2008 season. Therefore, the Giants cannot switch head coach as of yet. At the same time they don't want to throw the 2007 season down the drain, which is what they would be doing if they didn't extend Coughlin's contract by a year. In essense he would be a lame duck coach. This also keeps him around for 2 years if Cowher decides to stay out of football for 2 years, versus 1 year.

Coughlin will be expected to win a SB, and nothing else will be acceptable. So it will be easy to replace Coughlin with Cowher if Coughlin fails to do so. If he does win it, then the Giants obviously have the right coach and don't go after Cowher.

So it was a really genius move on their part.

Dang. I'm gonna have to read this one again in the morning. Meanwhile, I have a jar of mayonaise, a trapeze, some feathers, a wading pool and two midgets waiting for me to get to work. :hihi:

issisl got this one right. Here's what he said:

Giants waiting for Cowher in '08
Didn't want Coughlin to be a lame duck coach
Giants are dumb enough to think the players won't figure that out (added by NLMD)

Not even 12 months ago every Saints fan would have sold their right kidney to have a coach put us in the playoffs and almost win the first game. I just think that it is not all of Coughlin's fault. He has a bunch of winey players and an overrated QB that he relies to heavily on. He should clean house next year and see what comes of it. Hell, if its a complete failure then no big deal, he's getting old anyway. If it works, he gets Coach of the Year and is considered by many a legend in his own right. Broadcast booth not far behind.

Things could be worse. He could be in Parcell's over stretched shoes.
