just like there is nothing wrong with hoping for and wanting the best.

but to ignore all of the red flags and attempt to put O on same level as coaches who have already achieved high levels of success is being delusional.

look, i want O to succeed.
I would love nothing more than for a fellow bayou boy to win multiple titles here.

but i’m a realist and can usually do a pretty good job of separating emotion and looking at things logically.

so far, nothing O has ever done in his entire career (including interim stints) shows that he is capable of reaching the levels that LSU fans demand. which is competing for titles.
doesn’t mean he can’t do it, or even that he won’t do it. just means he hasn’t yet.

and any attempt to argue that he is on the same level (or above) guys that have actually done it is based purely off of hope or potential. because results to this point say he is not that caliber of coach. maybe he will be one day, maybe he won’t.

There is nothing in Coach O's interim record here, and only this season's rough start raised flags, I grant the loss to Troy the blowout to Miss State were huge red flags. But to say he has done anything to warrant the levels of negativity displayed here is baseless. The team was injured to start the season all over the team, and several players were in house suspended for Miss State. I am willing to give Coach O a shot here based on rolling up 3 straight damn fine wins, and I believe the streak is over Nov 4th, ride with me brother...

the loss to Bama last year raised a HUGE flag for me.

and not THAT he lost to Bama, but HOW he lost to Bama.

he really and truly needed to do one thing and one thing only last year.
DO NOT make the same mistakes Les did year after year against Alabama.
O then turned in an absolute spot on imitation of Les Miles. Complete with time management issues, running Fournette into a stacked box, and a completely outclassed offense.
and before you say “but it was still Miles’ offense”, we ran that offense for only one game after O took over. Alabama.

the loss to a florida was another flag.
he allowed this team to y’all all sorts of shit leading up to that game. let those emotions boil over into a pregame fight. let Fournette decide he could play after a shoving match with a UF coach.
then a mistake filled game against a depleted team cost this team a spot in the Sugar Bowl.
he then blamed the loss on one guy running the wrong way on one play, ignoring that we had 3 other snaps inside the 7 prior to that play.

0-2 in the only two games against teams with a defense ranked in the top 70 in the country.

the near fiasco last year with offering Tua a scholly and causing Brennan to decommit was another head scratcher.

then the first month of this season.

there are absolutely red flags since he took over as interim.
doesn’t mean he’s destined to fail.
just means that there are reasons there to be concerned.

Sorry, but the loss to Troy at home at night on homecoming was MUCH bigger than a red flag. It's unacceptable and should never happen. I know, Alabama's coach lost to UAB at home at night and to ULM at Bama, but he more than made up for it at both places. I want O to succeed, but color me skeptical, not negative.

Nutria that 14 paragraphs in your last 2 posts on why O will not succeed. He’s 13-4 as LSUs HC. Give him a chance, man.

Exactly the point on why the negativity is so puzzling. Especially with a 6-2 injured team this year playing their asses off for the same fans so down on them...

they aren’t posts on “why he will fail”

they are posts on why people aren’t just blindly thinking he’s the 2nd coming of Vince Lombardi.

i even said multiple times that i’m pulling for him, and his past doesn’t mean he won’t win titles here.

he just has to actually get there before he can be compared to the greats.
or to say “LSU has an advantage” when going up against the greatest coach of this generation.

    that’s all.
it’s not bashing him. it’s not hoping hel fail. it’s not even being negative.

it’s just being realistic about who he is to this point in his career.

    and yes, he’s 13-4.
and if either of our previous two coaches pulled the exact same 13-4 as him, we’d all be in an uproar about it.
but for some reason, it’s being touted as some amazing accomplishment by O.
