The title of this thread..I thought every week was hate Auburn week?

On the victory cigar thing....That's been around forever. My high school line coach used to give us all heavies one after every win. We used to step out the back door of the locker room and smoke'em with the coach. We won 17 out of 20 my Jr. and Sr. years. We used to smoke them before we got on the bus at away games. Bus driver had to wait unit we finished. Man he used to get pissed.
Imagine that at a high school today???

I've said it before. When it comes to conference rivals, Auburn is third at best. Even still, I can't think of a single instance in my life I've rooted for Auburn to win. I can't see that changing any time soon.

    Unk,
You know we’ve talked about this crap before. These morons in this Forum held a Kangaroo Courts to Talk Shit about it ... And Poo Poo the Ramah account of

THE NIGHT THE BARN BURNED IN ‘96

But I’ll finish the story you NEVER knew unless your brother told you ... Pop died in ‘99 just three years after the Barn Burned just before the Auburn game Sept 16 ... he’s watching these Tigers I just know it ... And he was sworn to secrecy as Statute of Limitations being Law

    THE NIGHT THE BARN BURNED
    2019 Recollection by Ramah

A Belizean immigrant to America as a child,
Marrero (Last Name Romero) grew up tough and mean in New Orleans Mid City area ... I first met Marrero while running home to Bienville Street from Jesuit High School one day. There was a pack of Beauregard School thugs after me (6 or 7) and they’d always try to catch the “track star” ... Their nickname for me as I ran with a Jesuit group often from the HS to the lake and back ... Hell I outran em with my school bag in tow and used it as a weapon on more than one occasion. Well that day they trapped me in St Anthony’s school yard and it was on ... One of the Connell boys (Jesuit kid and friend of mine) & Marrero were walking by and saw me cornered fighting these punks. Marrero yelled at them and it was like magic ... These mofos just skulked Away ... Marrero got up in the face of the biggest punk and that was it ... Nobody f-ed with Marrero ... He had a mad dog fire in his eyes and you knew if you started any shit you’d better have a gun. After that Marrero and I became good friends and often
(Connell boys, et al) made more rock concerts and PENNEY DRAFT Nights at the bars than you can shake a stick at, and we made all the LSU home games. Years later we made away games when we could as I was rarely home working all over America. We’d tailgate and pass a great time with tons of Tiger fans. The Barn was a particularly nasty Tailgating event in ‘96 and Marrero and I (Connells et al passed) walked around the outside of the stadium before the game. Marrero was drinking fierce and we peppered lotsa cute AU girls with propositions and got into it with a few of the Auburn assholes by coincidence. I always had my pistola on me and the combination of one mean ass Marrero look and a Ramah packing rarely ended in a froggy move ... So later we’re rounding the old Barn Sports Arena ... an old shitty looking building with busted glass and garbage dumped everywhere inside and outside as it was truly Trailer Trash University back then and nothing more than a garbage dump ...

So Marrero just flips ... He takes his bottle and a strip of cloth to make a Molotov and hurls it thru these busted out windows ... F-em!

I’m drunk too and kinda like looking around and waiting and nothing happens ... Fires take time ... So we’re in the stadium later enjoying a great game when you see the flames like you see in this picture ...

This video is a Deja Vu for me!

So I’m back home and talking to Pop about the game over coffee when Marrero stops by. Dad always liked Marrero as he had a New Iberia pal named Romero too, you might remember the Romero’s ... He told Pop what he had done and Pop shook his head and just laughed and said, You’re lucky you not in jail. Y’all need to stop that damned drinking that’s why I won’t go to the games with you & the crazy Connells.

Pop and I later got season tickets at the end of the DiNardo era just before Saban came. I had quit my drinking by then down to a few Coors

There’s only a handful that know. If you tailgate with any crazy Connells and hear a Barn Burn Tale, it’s likely embellished but basically true.

Romero burned the Barn in ‘96 on the outside.

Raion Hill “21” ... cudda wore 20 that night ... burned Auburn inside the stadium in the sweetest Red Zone Pick Six in LSU history ...

Draw your own conclusions, but it was the intent of Marrero to burn down the Old Barn

We are going back to Auburn next year in 2020. I wonder how much it has changed ...

Marrero hasn’t changed much. Just older and a bit less crazy ... We’ll be content to just watch the Tigers burn Auburn’s ass inside stadium this time.

    Geaux Tigers

That’s truth ... I seem to remember flames leaping higher but that pic was before that dump turned into a raging inferno
