I agree with those that think Les deserves better. He is a good man and a good coach who has kept LSU relevant for over a decade. However, I do think the time has come to move on and replace Les with someone who is a bit more innovative, a bit more disciplined, and on top of their game from a recruiting and organizational perspective. I'd be fine if Jimbo is the hire, but the man at the top of my list would be Gary Patterson. Patterson is the epitome of a coach who has adapted and adapted well to the changing tides of college football. Probably more so than Fisher.
You do realize that Patterson is considered one of the top defensive minds in CFB, right? Was that sarcasm? At TCU his teams were known as having the best defenses in the country. It wasn't until the last couple of years that TCU started having eye popping offensive output.
Any concern that all this talk is doing is giving Fisher the leverage he needs to make FSU loosen the purse strings and give him what he has been asking for?
That Miles is out and his replacement is not Jimbo? or Miles is out and we are courting_______, ( Jimbo)?
I think you're right. This could be a ploy by Fisher to use to his advantage to sweeten his deal at FSU. That's always a concern.
He won't make any magical changes, but he won't have 2-3 freshmen starting on the Offensive Line, and a true freshman fullback. He also won't have a 1st year starting QB. So the same offense will likely look a lot better due to experienced players blocking and running it.
Great post. The BoS backstabbing is low class and hurts the program, I believe. If Les is forced out, I agree he would be a good AD.
