If Lee is depending on crowd support to be the difference in his play, he isn't the QB we need. He has either done the hard work and progressed as a QB or he was never an SEC caliber QB. He is about to get the chance to show us which one he is. I think he is up to the challenge, we will see.
I think part of it was Crowton's crazy a$$ brainiac offense that a freshman QB had a hard time understanding. I mean look at it from Lee's prospective back then... crossing patterns from every which way... He is thinking... do I hit receiver X, O, L1, square, triangle.... This year Lets rally and take it to ATL! Hold the booing for the Big 12.
Has Lee had sufficient number of reps to be an effective QB? I know we haven't had a game yet, but he's likely been working with the second team. How well does he know the offense, and know his receivers? I would have rather liked to see the switch 2 months ago, rather than right before the season opener.......... I don't think the offense is going to look that crisp in the first few games.
Have you never seen JL put together series that moved the team all the way down the field then get yanked for JJ to come in and run for 7?
In short? No. But that's ok. He just needs to be nimble in the pocket and just, for the love of God, hit the open receiver! Look at Peyton Manning and Tom Brady. Neither of those could win a race vs a turtle...but notice how both step up, back, to the side of the pocket to buy themselves the extra time they need.
I have to disagree. JL has shown some mental toughness. He could have quit any number of times, but he has stuck with it. He has worked his tail off, lost 30 pounds, and has a new QB coach that may possibly be the key to him having success.
I wonder if lee may have lost those 30 lbs because he actually thought he had a chance to beat out jj. Maybe he had seen something that gave him the idea that he could have a shot.
