Let me make a suggestion. Those students who don't have a problem with it, next time you talk to your mom or dad, tell them what is said. Let me know how that goes. Better yet, this coming holiday while grandma, grandpa, aunt and uncle, little brothers, sisters and cousins are all around the dinner table break into that chant and get back here to let us know how that went.

I'm not saying you should completely censor yourself at games. Emotional outbursts are a given but there are boundaries and this is one of them.

there is something you dont seem to understand....

the things you see at tailgates, ar the bama blows t's, are individuals, acting on their own. and yes sometimes at tailgates doing things that are stupid.

but what the students are doing is organized, and as a group, and as part of a group that is representational of the university.

that is a huge difference. and i cringe to think it can be heard on tv and my alma mater is being represented in such a trashy manner.

Here lies the problem with a generation that thinks it is entitled to everything but doesn't have to earn anything. Never been raised to respect themselves much less anyone else. They don't understand the concept of working to earn what they have. They feel entitled to take what others have established. Any self respecting person who wants to be treated as an adult would not be defending this behaviour. Displaying a level of maturity my two teenage children would consider immature is just sad. The majority deems what is obscene or vulgar. Study the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and learn that your freedom of speech does not include this behaviour. What ever happened to courtesy and respect for others? How about respecting yourself. The young fail to realize that in a handful of years(not very long from now) and with increased responsibilities their perspective will change. They haven't lived enough or experienced enough to know everything like they believe they do. Life is a rude awakening for them when they leave the secure confines of mom and daddy land and school.

I sit on the opposite endzone. I could tell they added a little something after the "OOOOO...ooooo" part but couldn't make it out. Kids will be kids. Oh, and I'm pretty sure that they kept paying the song through the second half.

I've been there when the State and City Police removed an entire section for cup throwing...it can be done. They wouldn't remove the whole student section but about 100 or so would set a nice example. If it continued then you'd see more.

Good point Okie...I don't like it either, but really, what can we do? They will always come up with something. From the "ha ha ha ha, Jack ass, jack ass" chant that got the tiger rag played too the "you suck...COCK" chant during OweO song. Just ignore it and it will go away.

Has anyone ever been and heard the students in other venues? Do they say vulgar things?

HOLD THE PHONE...you can't kick a bunch of kids out for saying something vulgar my friend. That kind of state action takes censorship to an unconstitutional level. I don’t like it and I think it is tasteless, much like booing (I fricking HATE booing), but you can’t say, “Y’all as a group are saying “suck that tiger’s pickle (edited for the sensitive)” so this 100 has to go,” despite the fact that there is no way to separate the ones who did and did not do it.

They used to sing the actual song...only recently did they make their own version. It was played once in the second half with the same result...I was told there was an altercation between someone who objected and a student. I know for a fact it will be addressed if it continues to escalate.

I helped. I've had multiple rows removed and even the idiots who always get in the aisles and try to defend those being ejected get to go with them! The get reported to the dean and don't come back for the remainder of the season. Nice.

Which song? The student's added the jackass part of tiger rag back in the late 80's early 90's. The vulgar chant with OweO didn't pop up until about 3 years ago, but I may be wrong about that.

I'm sure your right...I have not heard tiger rag in a couple of years. I think I only heard OweO once this year.

i didnt hear it in the second half. thanks for that correction.

i think the better solution than continuing to take away song from the enjoyment of all fans and ruining a part of the ts tradition, is to start removing students, and placing a ban on them being able to attend further events. some actual consequences for behavior would go further than just making them have to come up with a way to ruin something else.
