I haven't watched ESPN since and I don't really go on sports websites. I should be back to normal in a week or two. GEAUX TIGERS!
I ran into the father of my daughter's best friend @ ballet class this morning. He's a Bama alum. I was gracious; he was gracious. He didn't know wth was wrong with LSU, either. Dare I say, it almost seemed like our absolute suckiness took away a smidge of his self-satisfaction? All's normal now, though. My daughter's over there spending the night. I survived having to face him.
I had this one particular azzhole at work. I went in late dreading facing him. He waited til Wednesday to pop the big, "I knew who was going to win..." I told him bullshyt and that he'd picked against us 14 times, he was bound to get one right. He "knew" Oregon was going to win too. I bet him a dollar for the Oregon game and never collected. He knew I was going to write the score on it and hang it in my office. I offered him double or nothing on the Nov 5th Bama game but he declined.
Yep .. this loss would have been easy to take had LSU showed up. I can imagine, and everyone I've talked to as agreed, there was no glory in the win. That's gotta hurt the Bama folks ... even though they did tote the crystal home. I wouldn't be suprised if even Saban phoned Miles and asked him what the heck was up .. why didn't LSU show up to play.
To late well on its way to the dump.... Yesterday I made my first trip to the golf course. I figured get it over with. We have a Sunday golf league thing. Anyway there are 3 of us LSU people in the group. So we took a pretty good ribbing on the range. Ironically everyone kept asking "Why didnt Miles put in the backup" and all we said "We wish we could tell you" I did find it funny several guys who are fans of places like Arkansas and A&M were joining the dog pile. I had to remind them that LSU recently took them to the woodshed. But yeh it wasn't entertaining. But another step in the process. My LSU buddy and I rode in a cart together and we decided we shall never speak of it again.
to answer the question in the thread title... judging by threads made to post rumor, i would say "no".
I'm surrounded by gumps, so I dreaded going to the office on Tuesday. I was in a funk until a guy who I work with (not a Bama fan) told me the joke about LSU not making it home because someone painted a 50-yard line on I-10. When I heard that joke, I thought to myself -- why not laugh, nothing is going to change what happened. Onward and upward! I've maintained my positive attitude by avoiding ESPN and just focusing on recruiting. :geaux:
