I don't think what we are witnessing this season is a product of CLM. These kids looked great against Washington, who beat Stanford. They've just lost some focus and need to get back to it. Discipline. CLM has been a good coach. He's recruited well. Granted, his style of football is not too attractive to the really great receivers that make QBs look great, but he wins most of the time. As bad as we look on offense this year, I"m still not cringing like I did when JJ was the starter. JJ was a Senior and still sucked. Without the D and ST, we lose against AR and GA last year. Mett, otoh, is a first year starter in the SEC. If his OL gives him some time, he'll progress. .... though I still think the kid needs to attend speed and agility camp ... I mean really.
Good to see after reading the Florida Prediction thread you've got us "draining dat swamp" and at 6-0.....don't be a hater, positive energy!
Miles isn't going anywhere. Perhaps if you and your "friends" feel that strongly about it, you should start a petition and go around and collect signatures, then personally hand it in to Joe Alleva. That...just...might...work. Up and coming coaches, established coaches, unknowns....it doesn't matter. The athletic director, the chancellor, the boosters and the alumni are not going to get rid of Miles, simply because a number of fans are unhappy, or how he coaches his team, or whatever reason people want to hate him. He's a man of integrity, he recruits well, and he makes $$$ for the university. He ain't going anywhere. I agree wholeheartedly that he makes a lot of boneheaded decisions, but to anyone who keeps using the same boring arguments against him should take a long look in the mirror, and perhaps realize that their own expectations were maybe set a little too high to begin with. We KNEW how much we lost from last season, ESPECIALLY on the defensive side of the football. Expectations for this team were set very high. Can't have 10-win seasons every single year. Even the "best" coaches don't win them all. Maybe people should change their colors and start cheering for the gumps, or perhaps even the ducks or the condoms.
Very true. But Mett has potential to make much better plays downfield and actually threaten teams. JJ and JL didn't. They were puppets. We will see, i haven't given up on the kid yet.
I haven't given up on him by any means. I think Mett has tons of upside. But it's obvious why Miles went with the two seniors last year.
Oh ya, unquestionably. I mentioned that earlier in another thread, at least we finally know why Miles never brought Mett in during our struggles in NOLA last year.
The other question we are still awaiting an answer to. Not just a 9-0 starter, but now a legit backup QB in the NFL his 1st year. Which is a HUGE accomplishment for any college kid, but more so for JL.
