LSU has been winning this way under Les Miles since he got here. He continues to win in his own way. There are a bunch of teams out there who wish they could be 5-0 right now. It always seems like things are about to fall apart under Miles, but somehow they never do. Until they do, I expect things to continue this way. Funny that the best QB play we've gotten in quite a few years was from a player Les Miles didn't want on the field, replaced ASAP by JJ so that we could go back to bad offense. What does that mean? I feel so confused how we've had such a drought of QB play under Miles. It has to be his method; it must be his evaluation of talent? I'm not a big Miles fan, but I expect he will continue to piece together wins, maintain his position at LSU, keep us in the national spotlight, contend for NCs, recruit highly ranked classes, and frustrate. Somehow it lessens my enjoyment of the game. I hope Mettenberger can get it together and make this the team so many thought it could be. Maybe a mediocre year would set everyone's mind right for next year. It feels like we've coasted on success for a very long time.
You describe the whole problem. This has been going on throughout Miles' tenure at LSU. This should be evidence that it's far more than just happenstance. It is Les Miles' way and we should all take heed of the fact that "his way" reeks of inferiority, apathy, and unbounded atrocities.
How about getting a firmer grasp on reality? If you have been an LSU fan for any amount of time, you would know that we've never been better than we are under Miles.
I had a very successful HS softball coach talk to me last year about her team. This coach has 2 State Championships and 2 more appearances- accompanied by several semi-final loses- 1 and 2 run games- to the teams that ended up winning it those years. Parents were "concerned"/disappointed about her kids' "level of play" despite reeling off a couple of District wins. Reading this brought to mind what I told her. When winning, in itself, is no longer satisfactory...THAT SAYS A LOT about where a program is.
Happiness is relative for many people. Whether they'll admit it or not, as long as Nick Saban is coaching at Alabama and winning championships, our fans will never be happy regardless of what LSU accomplishes.
Everybody is freaking out, quit looking through purple & gold glasses. As great as the team is the fact is, it is not as good as last year. All you need to do is break down the positions 2011 vs 2012 and at this point is quite clear we were just better last year. QB play is inferior Offensive line play is inferior Wide Receivers play is inferior Running Back play is the same Tight end play is the same Defensive line play is the same Linebacker play is better Cornerback play is inferior Safety play is the same Special Teams play lets call it inferior I personally think it is hard to argue with that comparison, so if you that is correct why is everyone so surprised with the way we are playing. Should we have beaten the crap out of Towson, obviously but we didn't disappointing yes but we are still 5-0 and on our way to another great year, but running the table? Sorry to say but no way, no how at best we are probably a 10-2 team but if we go 9-3 that would not be a shock the way we have played the last two games.
Wow just wow.... averaging 11 wins a season, two SEC championships a national championship and the best record in all of college football in 2011.... And we have "unbounded atrocities".... Man, you must not remember the 90s or heck even a few of the Saban years...... I will take Miles 11 wins a season, top 25 rankins multiple bowl wins and 1-1 in NC games anyday over what we had ot would have with out him... Look at our rivals and other programs. Texas, OU, Auburn to name a few. We are in the best years of LSU history. Try to enjoy them Oh dudebro2 I agree with everything in your post except "QB play is inferior" - There is no way that is humanly possible
