Again I was at the 'game'. Besides not keeping the stadium crowd informed I can't fault the powers that be for the decision. A couple of points
    1) While a couple of McNeese players came out of the locker room none went onto the field.
    2) We left after the 10pm or so announcement of yet another delay. At that time there was a line of lightening approaching from the west. It is about a 10-15 minute walk to where we parked and we were concerned that we would get rained on (we didn't).
    3) While playing would have been important to get 1st game mistakes worked out by the time the game started the risk of injury would negate the advantage IMO. Also playing today would screw up the schedule for the team's preparation for Moo State. Next week is vastly more important than last night.
    4) Before the lightening rule was either instituted or followed so closely the game would have been played. I've been in Tiger Stadium in worse weather watching football.
Yes it sucked, for the players more than anyone. However it seems to me that was all that could be done.

Look on the bright side everyone - it gave radio listeners more time to hear Kevin 'Company Line' Ford

Who said their had to be fans in attendance to put the game on.

They could have played the game today weather permitting in tiger stadium or the superdome if available with no fans.

LSU has scrimmages in tiger stadium all the time and I don't think it takes a 24 hour plan to turn on the lights to the stadium if needed. Or provide security at the gate.

They probably could have broadcast on SEC Network with a little communication and effort.

You had me to this point. The security is paid, so yeah I'm thinking it might be an issue to get people to work when they aren't supposed to. Besides, if no one is there then why do we need them.

Then the TV coverage, boss I'm with you, they could have played the game like you say but for that to have happened we would wake up in the morning and read a press release from the athletic depth and say "oh crap, they played a game". I'm not going to shout you down or call you names because I think I get where you are coming from but to think in any way that having live coverage is no big deal is just crazy. Take a walk around Tiger Stadium for the next home game and check out all the trucks, the equipment, the production crew, that stuff doesn't just relocate and become operable in a few hours.

Yes, with some crafty scheduling they could have done it but we wouldn't have been able to watch a single play.

first of all, it's just a football game.

McNeese deserved to get paid - they were on the field.

playing the game at 11 pm in those conditions - too many things could go wrong - had they played and LF gets hurt everybody would have been screaming that it was stupid to play the game at such a late hour

plus, it's just a football game

Well, the fans that paid $2 million to attend the football game speak very loudly to the athletic department. Canceling a game because of bad weather is one thing. Moving a game and playing it without the fans does not make a lot of sense. One OOC game over a FCS team is not important enough to risk injuries to players, disrupt two teams, or cheat 100,000 paid attendees.
