What is the story on this guy. I was reading IN on ESPN so I cannot cut and paste the article but some snippets from it state he is ALL LSU and simply wants an offer but since he didn't get one he is visiting Texas.

“My favorite school is LSU, hands down,” he said

But he is visiting Texas now because he didnt get an offer at Jr. day.

He is a local guy to me here in Dallas

He cancelled his trip to Texas' 1st Junior Day.

I think that says a lot.

Texas' 2nd Junior Day is Feb 25th. I think we'll offer before that and then he will commit.

    Should be LSU's 6th commitment.

Think we want to see him perform in camp first before throwing out the offer. IF that was not the case he would have already received it. Maybe Miles just wants more film though.

Les miles had him at JR Day but he was behind in his film evaluation of Wilson. So he told Wilson that he would do some more personal film evaluation of him, and get back to him. Since then, Wilson was supposed to attend TX JR day but was unable to go because he and his father got a flat tire the night before and did not get home until after 2 am... so he said he was too exhausted to attend their JR Day, but he will attend the next one.

HOPEFULLY, and I mean hopefully, Les starts watching some film and offers him before the next TX JR day. This could be just the window that we needed to get him committed before his next visit. I am not as confident as "islstl" about his committment... but I do think we have a good shot if we offer before TX Jr day... if we wait, then that will be a mistake and he'll probably start leaning to Texas.

I am not sure what is going on with our coaching staff giving out offers this year... They seem to be waiting on a lot of the big time national recruits, and slow playing most of the LA kids. I am not sure what their strategy is, but while we are "evaluating", other colleges are getting commits, or at least getting top recruits interested in their program by giving them an offer. Let's see how it all plays out...

    Welcome to the board, btw!

We have 5 commits, all from Louisiana. We have 8 more offers to other LA kids, so that's 13 Louisiana kids we are targeting. We usually target about 15 or so.

The Wilson kid is from Texas, so not sure where that plays into your statement you made above.

Glad to be here... took me awhile to come across this site, but happy to join...

From LA, I was mainly talking about Raheem Falkins, Ronald Lewis, Carlton Perkins, Noel Ellis, Tre'vell Dixon, and Darian Claiborne. At least Falkins, Perkins, Ellis, and Claiborne should have been offered by now, I think.

You could also make the arguement for Melvin Jones, Duke Riley, Ryan Hoefeld, Jetavious Wilson, and Kaleb Blanchard. But I know these are reaches... And I am in no way saying that I think the staff should just throw out offers to all these kids. I do like how Miles wants to complete his evaluation process before he offers; but because we got started with the evaluating process late this year due to the lateness of the NCG game and having the 2012 class go down to NSD, we are behind the rest of the top programs in the country.

I know we ony usually target 15-20, but I find this year's class to be very deep compared to most years' classes, especially last years. It's still very early in the process, so we may start seeing many more offers soon. I just don't want to miss out on good talents just because we haven't offered them yet.

    Glad to have you also.

This does look to be one of the deeper high school classes in years. LSU should do well. Lots of talent this year, can't sign them all......

Sometimes its about who you sign, sometimes it about who you don't sign. Last year it was about who we didn't, this might be a good thing, time will tell. Last year we were filling positions and adding depth, a good class.

I was alos looking at the Rivals 250, and noticed we havent given out a lot of offers to the top national players either. LSU is on most of their lists of interested schools, but not many have an actual offer. On the other extreme, I swear Bama must have at least 100 offers amongst the top 250 LOL. It seems EVERY top recruit has them on their list, and most have offers too. I'm not saying we should do it like that at all. Again, I like how Les wants to evaluate someone before offering. He's not going to offer someone just because a recruiting website has him as a 5*. Also, there is almost no point in offering a kid who has no interest in your program either.

But I would like to see us extend offers to these top national players with interest in LSU: James Cox, Nick Washington, Laremy Tunsil, Isiah Golden, Ishmael Wilson, Jordan Huff, and possibly Devante Kincade.

In my opinion these are some great talents, and they have been already offered by other top programs. All of these prospects have shown interest in LSU, and would like to get an offer. Hopefully we will extend some offers (really hope to Washington, Tunsil, Golden, and Wilson) in the near future.

I don't think Faulkins should have an offer to this point yet. Think he has great size but pretty slow of the snap and not very elusive. He should come to camp to show how he has progressed in those areas. We have a bunch of targets OOS we want to save a potential space for and plenty of in-state WR talent.

Claiborne will likely have his offer after a campus visit this week.

Perkins aand Ellis are camp guys as well IMO. We have a deep secondary and need to be very selective.

Duke Riley as of now pretty much knows an offer is not coming.

Melvin Jones is someone I could see earning an offer at some point. Same with Hoefeld

Javatious Wilson is just way too small IMO.

We have to be very selective at RB with only one spot. Might squeeze in another if a big target wants to jump on.

If Goldon wants on I think we would take him.

Ishmael could get that offer at camp and I think he will.
