Is Zach Mettenberger really that good?

Seeing as what we've had this year has been downright DREADFUL, one would THINK "run of the mill" would be an upgrade?

Which is why Crowton should have been fired after the Tennessee game. At least prospective recruits would know for certain that the offense would be a more attractive option.

    Yep, I'd have to agree.

Absolutely agree. Also, to answer the original question; I think the hype is just for a change at QB. At this point, a lot of people feel like any change might be better than what we have now. There is just a bad combination with a bad QB position run by a bad OC position. Which leads me to wonder if either (or both) QBs might have done much better with a better OC?

I would say he's probably a little over hyped and seen by fans as a "quick fix." Other than Georgia he was only recruited by Boston College and Florida St out of high school. Hopefully he has straightened out after all the BS at Georgia and can come in an make an impact. At the least it gives us something to talk about.

Until Crowton is long gone from LSU it wouldn't matter if we had Joe Montana taking snaps for us.

Nice post...We need some down field throwing to really gauge anything but I think he can do it if he has the right plays called.

I was living in Atlanta at the time, and I respectfully disagree. ZM was slightly ahead of both. I think Gray was already taking snaps at WR at that point, too.

Either way, it's moot because Murray is lighting it up. I still say Mettenberger has the better tools, still not sure about his intangibles/accuracy, but it's worth it to LSU to find out, IMO.

He's probably better than Jarrett Lee as a pocket passer.
