I'd have to agree with this. Even the coaches were going nuts. Usually, it's just the fans screaming, but when you add in the players and coaches...you know it's loud.
No. Went to Doak-Campbell last year for the Clemson game (yes, same day as the LSU/bama game...long story) At 15 min till kickoff, stadium was half full and quiet as a church. Hardly any students were in their section.
Does the average fart smell like a rose? No. Same answer for the question of Wisconsin being louder than LSU. Well, then all of those teams with 80k+ stadiums are idiots for not putting seismographs close enough to register. It's a great marketing tool and apparently we are the ONLY school to ever have anything like that happen. And no, I don't think every 80k+ stadium with a seismograph that close would register. And we should never stop using it because not only is it a unique story and a great recruiting tool, it's HISTORY. However, I was told that the Florida Geology Department's Douchebagograph registered incredible markings during the LSU/Florida game last year. Apparently, the massive amounts of Gator douchebags looking for revenge and traveling LSU douchebags (who are a little crazier than the average home douchebags) resulted in a significant marking on the tool. Florida is now claiming that no other school can match their douchebaggery. Urban Meyer said he's more proud of that than the National Championship.
I've never been to a Wisconsin football game, but the new TAF run Tiger Stadium is no comparison to the stadium of old. It may well be that some have passed us by. However I'm not sure how a Buckeye fan would know. Surely he doesn't think the Super Dome is Tiger Stadium.
we did in a stadium with less than 80k. plus, if it was common to register on a seismograph, that Aubrun game wouldn't have been the 1st time. the seismographologist didn't even know what caused the spike until they matched up the time with Fuller's TD. and no one has ever claimed to pull it off since then.
sometimes i feel the need to argue when i believe in something. i'll argue about who was the real national champion in 03. i'll argue about how good a coach les miles is. i'll argue about who has the most passionate fans in the SEC. there are two points i don't need to argue b/c any arguments to the contrary are just incorrect: 1) where the loudest stadium in the nation is 2) what campus hosts the best tailgating. and really the second one isn't even close. those two aren't about belief. that's like saying "i believe the sky is blue." when someone says different i don't even think a response is warranted or deserved. :tigereye:
My BiL got his undergrad degree from Wisconsin and said his alma mater doesn't even come close. Take it for what it's worth. And he first said it after a game in the 90s, when we were an average (at best) team...the last game he went to, a few years ago, when we were contending for a national championship and the stakes were a lot higher, his ears didn't stop ringing for days. I've been to a Wisconsin game, and loved the atmosphere. But it's not that loud compared to Tiger Stadium...but then, I'm biased, so I thought I'd offer up my in-law's opinion.
this is what i was thinking. i not a seismologist, but i wouldn't think that sound would affect a seismograph to much. now all of the jumping and stuff is something different. louisiana's ground is also soft and that seems like it would dampen things. i'd love to send this one to mythbusters, but i'd hate for them to prove it wrong. these are pretty good (and valid) points. especially the one about it not happening before (or since) then. or has it? it seems like tiger stadium has been at least as loud as that game with the recent additions.
