There wont be much room between the tackles no matter who is running it but Hilliard is the more effective back at this point. No question about that. Ware should still get carries but we need to get him to that second level. Let him lower the boom on the lb's and DB's. But not 22 carries worth.

    That's my point.

You have to go with what will be most successful.

Only going to be a certain number of carries handed out, need to be careful about our distribution.

    Would like to see:

    Ford 15
    Hilliard 11
    Ware 6
    Blue 6
    Jefferson 6

Hilliard should definitely be the inside runner. Spencer Ware looks for contact no matter what. Hell, he goes down to the ground to hit defenders.

Wouldn't mind seeing Ford get a few more edge carries if the game dictates. I like him on the option. Hilliard too, but ford has another gear.

LOL, it does seem that way sometimes. Shift Ware to TE during the break. He'll be a safety's nightmare after catching a pass over the middle. He'll conjure up memories of John Mackey back in the 60's playing for the Colts. Sometimes it would take 3 or 4 defenders to bring him down.

Hillaird has such fluid side to side movement moving to the openings, great ffet as they say.

He is the most violent runner I have ever seen.

I do believe they are gearing up Hilliard as the next great RB. They gave him carries on the option and threw the ball to him too. He succeeds in every situation the coaches put him in. I am very excited about our future at the running back position. I remember when we had Justin Vincent, Joe Addai, and Alley Broussard then when we had Charles Scott, Keiland Williams, Hester, and Trindon. We got an even better set here

    That I 100% agree with.

But Bama (If they were smart) is going to load the box and play the option. Force JJ to pass (Ugg makes me puke in my mouth a bit) That is all they will practice.
They will force LSU to throw (As we should do to Bama)
and if Stud and Krags do not prepare our team for quick drop and throw (IE do not let JJ stand back there and bounce up and down in panic as his primary is covered) it will be a long night. LSU Must get the TE's in play, quick slants, hot routes, and slip screens. There will be NO room in the middle (for both teams) get em outside and soften up the line with short high percentage passes.

Like Captain Ramieus said in Hunt for Red October
"No, he wont make the same mistake twice"

I think the coaching staff has pidgeonholed each player as a certain type of back: ware-power, ford- speed, blue-slasher, hilliard- bruiser. I think due to this, Ware is still getting the between the tackle carries, which are the tough yards. I am very confident that IF Ware had some of Ford's carries he would be gaining more yards. Likewise, if Ford had to do more between tackle carries he might be struggling with yards per carry as well. I think it has to do with the types of carries Ware is getting and down/distance etc vs the idea that maybe Ware has lost a step.
