Is it Meyer's fault that Tebow is hurt? I was listening to Jimmy Ott's show, and they were discussing this, and i think its legit. Florida was killing Kentucky and Tebow was still in the game, late in the 3rd, and HE WAS SICK! Is Meyer too worried about running up the score that he got his quarterback hurt? Kind of the same thing with Nick Saban, when Mauck got the foot injury vs. Florida in 2002. Except Mauck wasn't sick. The game was well in hand, but i think Nick made the right decision because Mauck was still a little green other than the SECCG in 01. thoughts?
Probably has as much to do with Tebow's competitiveness and wanting to stay out on that field. They certainly would have kept piling on points even with Brantley and Meyer certainly is trying to get his young QB as many game reps as possible. So I am not buying what you're selling (or what Ott is selling). You can't play this game scared and thinking someone's gonna get hurt. Obviously you pull your players when the game is out of hand, but I think Meyer's plan was to get Brantley in on the next series. I think it was just bad luck that it happened.
Eh, not really what i was getting at. Do you pull your sick quarterback when you are up 41-7 late in the 3rd quarter. Especially, when you have a guy behind Tebow that is going to be the starter next season. Or are you so much of a dick, that you feel the need to run the score up on everyone you play. Seems like he is carrying on the tradition that Spurrier left, and it bit him in the ass.
Up until that hit everybody in the world thought Tebow was indestructible. So I don't really blame him for not predicting an injury. He probably should have taken him out for other reasons though. Like getting a young QB some SEC game reps.
I don't think it is Meyer's fault that Tebow was injured. Could have happend on the first series of the game. I do however fault Meyer for still having Tebow in the game considering the score and Tebow's illness.
of course its his fault. we discussed it as it happened. I think it was 31-7 or 34-7 after 3 but clearly urban always runs it up and clearly they want tebow to win another heisman. half is greed half is arrogance. but its nothing new and it may cost them this year if tebow doesnt recover fully. live and learn. ask ben wilkerson about his thoughts.
this. i agree with the word arrogant. it was a disservice to tebow for his illness alone. i know he is a "competitor" yada yada, but they were steamrolling.
Pretty much exactly what I thought as soon as it happened. I don't think there's any doubt. Meyer's hubris will ultimately be his downfall, and it certainly came back to haunt him in this instance.
Agreed. And I do believe in stop me if you can. If we hang a 100, hope you do better next time we meet.
