I apologize to all the other posters. M/m and I don't see eye to eye on many political issues.

I'll try to refrain from lengthy comments as I'm sure they're more individual than group related. Sorry!

I just get really charged up when someone pulls the race card yet claims they're incapable of being racist.

To me it's the ideal defition of B.S. and a major cause of many of our nation's problems. If we're going to strive for equality the rules need to be fair. No group should get a free pass for any reason. Double standards should be challenged at every opportunity. The victim menatlity exists because we allow it to.

Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner. There is only one party in america, the Party of Corporate American (PCA). There are two marketing arms of PCA, and they tell lies to their constituents about how they are going to help them, but the real winners are corporate america. It is true that when the repubs are in office, corporations get a bigger slice of the pie, and when the dems are in power the poor folks get a slightly bigger piece of the pie.

The PCA will enhance its grip now that the supreme court has ruled that govt. cannot put restrictions on the size of contributions to political campaigns by corporations. They can outspend us all.

The parties put their money behind their preferred candidates and we have an election to pick 1 of the 2 "party men" running.

The repubs made huge contributions to expand housing under Bush, and passed a huge unfunded expansion of medicare in 2005 by passing prescription drug coverage (but they made it illegal for medicare to negotiate for volume discounts, how ridiculous is that, what a bone to BIG PHARMA). They are big on social programs.

The dems are continuing the war in Afghanistan, and what is the plan there? When can we get out? What is the goal? Is the goal actually and reasonably achievable, and at what price? The dems are more warlike than they are generally given credit for.

Point is, if you ignore what they say, and watch their feet (what they do), they are much more alike at the core than different. Their marketing plans would have you believe they are vastly different, worlds apart. Not true. But, it gives us something to talk about.

You're an idiot and thats the truth.
What does the riots have to do with anything
Since you want to bring it up then we can talk about fact..

    Chicago riots of 1919
Chicago Race Riot of 1919 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Unlike southern cities through the 1960s, Chicago did not segregate most public accommodations.[2] In fact, according to Walter Francis White, pre-1915 Chicago had a reputation for equitable treatment of African Americans in general.[7] However, early 20th-century Chicago beaches were segregated.[12] African Americans had a long history in Chicago, with the city sending its first African-American representative to the state legislature in 1876. There had also been late 19th century tensions between ethnic Irish and African Americans, as most members of both competed for jobs among the lower classes.[13]

Omaha Race Riot of 1919 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dont tell me about riots, there have been plenty of riots in this country and you want to point out one where black people acted ignorant. Give me a break, riots where other people were the agressor. Your examples are so phucking stupid its not even funny, I post factual information, not anything I allegedly saw, you post revisionist history according to Purple.

There is nothing factual about your information, you still havent refuted the Southern Strategy after your bullshyt post about how Democrats use race as a wedge issue, but you like to ignore the truth.

Your personal opinion of me means nothing, my life is great, never been on a welfare, food stamps, reduced lunch, nothing. Definitely educated, never been arrested, so on and so on.... the fact is you're a racist and you're scared to admit it.

Continue to shovel shyt, you might just start to smell your own one day, but I seriously doubt that.

Well to get back on topic...

I am happy that $20 billion is available for immediate support of lost wages, and I think given the opportunity BP would handle these claims in the same subpar manner in which they operate their rigs.

That being said, Obama did more or less shake them down. I don't think there is a legal precedent for the president making them do this. The compassionate part of me is thankful, and the law abider in me is a bit put off. Feel like I should be able to see one side more clearly, but I can't. Let's just hope there is no reason for it to happen again in the future.

The opinion polls are against the recent healthcare reform because people are uneducated on the subject and the GOP has done a fantastic job of spin and using buzzwords. The words "socialism" and "nationalized" gets thrown around so often, people just accept it and don't question it. The plan that passed is about as far from "socialism" and "nationalized" as a country-wide healthcare plan can get.
