actually let me clarify. I agree with the first part of your post. The idea of him being loved b/c he is a white guy more so than a black makes me tired. I could care less what color any of these guys are, the fact that they are all purple and gold is what is most significant to me.
Of course people would read too much into that and not get what I meant. I never said he was loved because he is white. I said he gets more love because he was a white guy playing running back. There is a difference. He was a great player for LSU regardless of color, but I feel him playing a position dominated by black guys and him being a white dude who played the position and played it well gets him even more love even if no one wants to admit it. It's like when I talk about everyone being racist in some way, it's almost subconscious. I'm not trying to say people only like him because he is white.
Hester, the war daddy would easily be replaced by LF... if he wore the 18. So stop it. Funny how the numbers have taken their turns. 7 was remarkably popularised by all the you know who's originally on D. Last couple of years the 18 has gone to the D and here, the single best back in Tiger stripes has the 7. You would think Miles is running this thing...
You said that, but your point was a white Hester receiving favorable consideration... because he was a white running back. Hester gets my nod along with many others because he always played above expectations. Punt and kick coverage, who was ALWAYS the or one of the 1st players on the ball? Hester. Who made bigger holes than the body being thrown out there? Hester. Who played through the whistle every single snap of his career? Hester. Who made tebow cry? War Daddy. I used LF as a counter point that had he been wearing the 18, who is gonna argue? White is on an awesome run and if he keeps it up, fugetaboutit. But there is a ways to go before he raises that bar. I hope he does it. We need that kind of presence on the field to remind others to do shit like not stare at the fumble when they think the play is dead.
That's not what I meant I meant universally as a Tiger, while Hester was a great player for us, I think subconsciously people tend to like him more because he was a white dude doing awesome things in a position dominated by black athletes.
You'd be best served to believe that for yourself, but implying others share the same belief is a poor run on assumption.
Not so fast my friend. Fournette is blessed with once in a generation natural talent. And, unlike some others he has a great work ethic and is making the most of his abilities. Hester wasn't naturally talented but he outkicked the coverage on making more than the most out of what God gave him. If Fournette wore 18 I would have to call it a tie with Hester for now.
