That's kind of the point. A number here predicted a youngster like Lee would be able to simply manage the game; it isn't as easy as it looks. That's a mighty big and errant assumption, which was my point. High school is not college. Lee looked pretty good in HS, as did Jefferson. Pink? It's purple and gold, man.
you are either a buffoon or a fool. hard to tell at this point if jefferson had been put in the game and threw ints you would be proclaiming to all who were foolish enough to listen that CLM was stupid and stubborn for letting a true freshman play in a game of this magnitude we all remember the many times you posted stating what a risk rp was and it was foolish to recruit him.....:dis: i'm sure that you're sure your contention is that the Tigers did not compete against bama? what does a team look like after a nc? the year after winnning a MNC: nc.......team....following yrs record: 2000.....okla.....11-2 2001.....miami...12-1 2002.....osu......11-2 2003.....LSU.......9-3 2004.....usc......12-1 2005.....tex...... 10-3 2006.....fla.........9-4 2007.....LSU.........?? the point being is that ALL teams experienced a drop off. the exceptions being usc & miami but the conference competition leaves little to the imagination for usc and for miami as well during that time frame.... no dan. the True CLM era began on a monday night following hurricane katrina. his record at LSU is 40-9. He's won one of these :crystal: and if he keeps recruiting like he has been then we'll compete for another. too bad you've missed it. btw.... i'll chip in to help you become a member at TideFans, but you need to hurry....their bandwagon is getting full.
kcal, +1, we got caught short of scholly QB's. I think nobody wanted to come to LSU with Russell and Flynn having two more years, and RP in the wings. Crowton recognized that, and invited Hatch to walk on to solve the numbers problem, and Lee was far enough behind RP to sign on. When RP left, we are depleted at QB. Jefferson is just too new with the play book. I'm sure if they were comfortable with him in there, he'd be playing. I suspect we'll see him against Troy, I hope a bunch. I agree with Miles not playing him against Bama, not the place to give a true frosh significant playing time. Les is doing just fine. I predicted LSU! 9-3 with losses to Auburn, Ga., and Fla., with us probably upsetting one of those and dropping a game to USCe or Bama. We can still do that. This is exactly what I expected this year.
LSU still is a top-notch program, but when you have MVP quarterbacks like Flynn and Perrillux it is hard to attract another one for a few years. Is that so hard to understand? What a load of bull, LSU has plenty of talent. We lost this game for one reason--poor quarterbacking from one guy. We had more offense than Bama, more first downs, more rushing yards, more time of possession and the defense allowed fewer TD's than Bama's defense did. The difference in this game was a poor quarterback--nothing else. You can't keep throwing TD' for the other team and play at this level. You're just being a crybaby.
Not only that, but no one seems to notice that Saban is winning with Shula's players. Miles is loading the boat with talent but the QB is the engine that makes it go on offense. Right now we're having to use paddles.
Either way, talent doesn't win you games. 21 points off turn overs in Florida game, 17 in Georgia game and 14 last night.....add up those then figure how much we would have lost by, only 1 team would beat us and that is Florida. Yea 50 looks like a lot, but not when u subtract 21 or 17.... Look, Miles is doing his job, RP was kicked for all the right reasons, Hatch is hurt and LEE is 19.........They played very well last night and could have folded every game after all those ints but they don't, they continue to play and try to score even when he game is over. Thats the Difference...LSU!
First off, I give Les Miles credit for sticking with Lee. Can you even imagine being in a game this hyped up at the age of 18? Jordan Jefferson just got finished torching secondaries that probably average a 4.7, 4.8 40. To put him in and have his first pass against the #1 team in the nation would be trial by fire. I think they saw something(I thought I did too) in Lee during that Auburn comeback. The fact of the matter is that we haven't really seen him get back to that level of game play since that game. Secondly, this is what you can expect under CLM. Us taking the #1 team deep into a game is what you can expect. As everyone knows, with a decent QB, we win that game, and we have options for the future at good QBs. Personally, I want to see Shepard get time next year. He will be enrolling early, so he should know the playbook by the beginning of the season. I haven't seen any progress in Lee this year, and I have had faith in him since Auburn(still do), and if I see something in our bowl game, then I might change my mind, but with the playmaker that Shepard is, and the success that OSU has had with Terrelle Pryor, I'd like to see Shepard on the field. We took a #1 team to the wire and lost in OT. It's a sour loss because it's 'Bama, but we finally saw the defense we should have had all year last night. Kudos to Mallory and Peveto.
If it looks pink to you, it's probably because you're looking through shades of RED... We all know you aren't looking through purple & gold glasses....or clear for that matter.
This is a very good post. Perfect perspective mixed with positives and negatives that are accurate observations.
