For being the most talented team...the receivers sure dropped a lot of balls during the season..I'm sure that's the coaches fault for not putting super glue on their hands.
Ah, we will be back we still have talent coming back just need to get us a DC who can coach them up and the other thing is the rest of the teams in the country will be better also seems like a lot of young stars out there right now in other conferences that will not play a schedule like we will have to year end year out in the SEC and get banged up by the end of the year that will not help us in winning a BCS title. I just hope we take care of business in the SECCG next week seems we have yet again another week with alot of injuries.
I could say this and that about coaches, or about players and blah blah buh "bleeping" blah. This was a long time coming, at least since the Ky game. This team and coaching staff have been walking the tightrope for far too long. Do we have talent? Without a doubt yes, I'd say at least more talent than 95% of the teams in Div I football. Is "the head" a good coach, well he isn't the best but by no means "the best". Just way too much of the same ol same ol and sooner or later it was bound to catch up to us........ and it did.
It's interesting that Arkansas has one of the worst defenses in the SEC and we have one of the best. Yet time after time they had guys wide open in key situations, such as the fourth and ten in overtime period. McCray was at leat fiften yards off the man. Yet most of the passes that Flynn was missing in the first half he would have had to make an almost perfect throw or it would have been intercepted. They covered our receivers very tight. I know we have talented players at WR. Doucet and Tolliver were selected as the number 1 WR recruit in the nation when they were signed. Why don't they play like they are number 1. I've seen Tolliver make catches in the open field and make excellent runs that defy his long and skinny appearance. Yet in our 12th game he did not touch the ball. This staff has a reputation of playing the veteran players instead of taking a chance on freshmen player mistakes. Doucet is still making freshmen mistakes. IMO, it's the coaches responsibility to teach WRs the technique to separate themselves from the defender. That didn't happen often today.
You can't say that here unless you're in the "click". You will be burned at the stake!!! This team lacked leadership and discipline. We had some injuries, every team does. Fact is we had (hopefully) a mediocre coach that came into a program already loaded with top recruits and he rode Saban's talent for the last couple of years. A mediocre coaching staff makes for a mediocre team with spurts of talent here and there (enough to sometimes get you out of a bind)
The team is very talented. Its a team game. Its on the coaches for not making adjustments quick enough. Its enexcusable to not stop a one dimensional team and allow Dick to look like a Heisman QB. Today our coaches mailed it in. No adjustments and very poor clock management yet again. THe players are also to blame as well. THey just didnt step up their games. LSU played with little intensity today. They were flat and played like they didnt want to play for a championship. Ill say this though and it pains me, but our DL is VERY overrated with the exception of Dorsey. The DL has been controled all year long, not getting much penetration. We cant rush the passer at all this year. The OL is getting past the DL into the LBs.
That's been the problem with our defense...Offensively, I think our receivers were overrated...With the exception of Byrd, they haven't had big plays the whole season...I may be wrong about that...The real reason could be Matt Flynn's lack of arm strenght or accuracy.
this is the best comment yet. all of the little things that made this team have to fight so hard to win games against mediocre teams like fla, aub, and ala, finally caught with them today, i.e., players in wrong formations, costly penalties, poor game mgt. by the coaches, and a bad habit of having to fall behind before playing with some sense of urgency like there was a national championship at stake all came to collect today. you may have a very talented team, but you're not that talented that these things won't eventually jump up and bite you on the ass eventually. no one in college football is that talented. be consoled by the fact you can still terrific season. not too many teams can say that.
