cbssports' own poll actually has up going from 26 to 25

I was incorrect yesterday when I thought they dropped us from 18 to 26. 18 must be where they had us at the end of last year, not sure

Looks like a fairly stagnant adjustment this week, either up a spot, or possibly down a spot or 2 at worst.

While Les may not be finishing with LOSING seasons his average of 10 wins a season comes from the success of the '05 through the '07 seasons... several here then said it was because he was playing with Sabans players, (which at the time I said they were nuts), but after our '07 NC... Les continues to secure Top 5 or 10 recruiting classes but we go from 9th in offense to 52nd and then to 112th last season... if this is not the case then please explain to me our downward trend since the beginning of '08? Not trying to fight, trying to build discussion.

Coaches leave us where we were in their poll.

    No big shock there.

Could've been worse... surprised we weren't voted out of the Top 25.

The "what ifs" can boggle the mind in college football. But, it was my understanding that LSU trained to play the 1st team defense of UNC. Then when they got there, that had changed, therefore changing the original plan. One could also argue that UNC were shooting from the hip as well... playing by ear, since they were using players they weren't expecting to use in this game. It makes sense to me that UNC started to pull it together after halftime, was it pure coincidence then that LSU eased up at the same time? Or, was UNC able to overcome thier problems and beat us because they were better? For me, it boils down to a few mistakes (as others have stated here). If it weren't for those mistakes, we would probably be griping about something else.

But back to the "what ifs"; What IF UNC had not lost its a-team defense? See, I always hate when we go to play a team where it's best is not able to play (injuries, suspensions, etc...), it bugs me because it leaves uncertainty if we beat them. In my opinion, we haven't seen what the Tigers can truly do. Are they a top 25 team? I think so. But really... I can't base anything on the first game this season... too many variables to consider... a few more games will tell the story I think. Perhaps after Vandy, we'll have more for comparison and analysis.

Anyway, top 25: Yes, I think so. As long as notes are taken when they look at the film from Saturday and action is taken to remedy future mistakes of the like. I have faith in our team.

Yes pollsters usually punish teams for beating higher ranked opponents.
