The good news is we should be able to beat Ole Miss. After that performance there is a good chance we will not be in the top 25 by the end of the year. However, we have started off with some poor showings in the past like Oregon State and Houston and done alright the rest of the year. Just really sad to see Les Miles do his usual NOTHING on the sidelines. God I want an Active Offensive or Defensive Head Coach for Christmas. Hey but I will miss Les, he did make me want to punch him in the face everytime he opened his mouth. :milesmic:
So, do you want him to do nothing or do you want him to open his mouth because you want to punch him? This is the unending double standard with Miles. He doesn't put his best athletes on the field/he was using PP too much. He doesn't play freshmen/he played too many freshmen the other night. He doesn't do enough/he should just shut up and let his coordinators coach without interference. When we lose, it's because of lousy coaching/when we win, the players did it all on their own. The armchair QBs want it both ways.
I dunno Stacey, it seems like when he does open his mouth it's pulling off the headset and seems he's asking an assistant, "What just happened there?". Maybe you're just sensitive when someone speaks about hurting his lips cause you think he's fine and have a crush on him.
I say yes, we are a top 25 team until we get beat out. Bama didnt win pretty last year! Do you think Bama fans were worried as hell that the only reason they got past LSU was because we lost JJ, Scott & PP......or that they barely got past Tenn & Aub. They were extremely worried and uncertain about thier title chances. I agree the game would have played out had we played UNC fully staffed. Maybe we would have lost, maybe we would have struggled. Hell i think the game would have played out differently if we didnt have a 3td lead too. Or if we didnt have 4 starters out, or if we didnt commit stupid penalties. Bottom line, we won, and yes we are a top 25 program. We all knew going into this game we were scare with our outside LB's being able to cover short slants over the middle. Now we know we have a coverage issue, lets just hope we can fix it!
This team is mediocre at best. That was the worst performance resulting in a win I have ever seen in my entire life, which spans 50 years. Miles seems hell-bent on playing Jefferson, who seems to be playing to his potential, which is extremely limited. He throws only if the reciever is wide open, making the decision to run far too late, and is effective at neither on a consistent basis. Crowton lacks imagination, and doesn't seem to know how to exploit the weaknesses of a defense. He seems to play each game not to loose. Chavis? Reminds me of the defensive coordinator in place years back before Sabin. Full bore prevent defense all the time. The result. This team is simply no fun to watch, despite loads of talent, and will be lucky to win 5 or 6 games. It pains me to say that, but it's obvious, given the last 3 years. This team stinks on toast, to no fault of the players. Les Miles has, in his sixth year, completed his task of erecting Oklahoma State in Baton Rouge. This sucks.
At this point, no they aren't a top 25 worthy team, though obviously they will move up to around 19. But what does it take to finish in the top 25? 4 non-conference wins and a 50/50 record in conference...
UNC showed me that they are, at the very least, a top 18 team. IMO, you don't become a top 20 team without depth. And UNC, reguardless of suspensions, showed they have depth. And on the flip side, as poorly as we played in the 2nd half, we still won the game (though, I admit we didn't deserve it the way we played). Top 25 teams find ways to win dispite playing like a I-AA team for an entire half. In short, yeah, we're a top 25 team. But we're clearly a team, at least at this point, that is 3rd...maybe even 4th-best in our own division.
