Les Miles is the head coach. It's Les Miles' team. It's Les Miles offense. Crowton is Les Miles subordinate. It's his job to do what Les Miles instructs him to do. Where does this notion come from that the head coach must allow his OC to do as he pleases?
If this were the right way to do things, all OC's and DC's would make 50k per year. They would just be figureheads. This is not your office's level of employee status. You hire the best to get better. Not so you can tell them how we're gonna do things. If you want to do that then you hire guys that think like you. Not guys who are complete opposites.
I think that some just think that some head coaches let there OC do as they please if they trust them.
Make of stats what you will. In this case I think our SEC offensive statistics confirm what we are seeing on the field: Scoring Offense - #11 Total Offense - #12 Rushing Offense - #11 Passing Offense - #10
So when the O looks great, it is Crowton. When the O looks bad, it is Miles? You do realize that its been Miles at HC and Crowton as OC at LSU since 2007, right?
This is certainly Les Miles' branding on this offense. Crowton would be playing Shepard a lot and featuring him. Look for Crowton to possibly exit after this season. All the proof you need is the game vs Gtech with Jefferson at the helm. You see any of that with this team? No. Miles wants to win Big 10 style or forget it. 3rd and goal from the 2 and we slam it with Scott. That's not Crowton.
