Those who want a playoff can't complain that Georgia and Florida are better than Tennessee and therefore the SECCG isn't a true test of who's SEC Champion. Georgia and Florida lost their chances ON THE FIELD, albeit a few weeks ago, and that's how a playoff would work, and there would be some games which come out "wrong" but that's the way it is. There is absolutely no way to take a snapshot of every team at the same moment, play them against each other, and declare who is that whole YEAR'S NC. Actually, I'm more and more convinced that there is no system which will determine it. The polls aren't perfect when taken alone, but the BCS is going to end up with Hawaii and Kansas in high positions, which polls in the old system never would have. Bottom line: Tennessee and LSU will fight it out next week for the SEC Championship, and whichever team wins IS the champion, Georgia and Florida playing "better" at this point in the season notwithstanding.
Yes I saw last night's game but because we have injuries and nicks means we should want the easier opponent no we are not the only team with injuries. Playing Georgia the better oponent has nothing to do with the NC for me I just wanted to play the better team. Playing tougher opponents makes you better IMO.
I can't answer your question Punk because to a certain extent I agree with you. It would be interesting to find out what the injury posters have posted in the past about our superior depth. Where is the superior depth? I think excuses are just that. Excuses. I think that it's just plain hard to consistently win week in and week out in the SEC. When was the last time a team went undefeated in the SEC? Does any team in the SEC this year have only one conference loss?
Well, a playoff system wouldn't work well for LSU anyway, despite how many people on here cry for it. LSU proved this season that they get worse and more "banged up" as the season goes on, as fans blame everything on the schedule, despite the fact that Georgia, Florida, and Auburn played a tough schedule too, but got better as the season progressed. LSU (and most other teams) wouldn't be able to handle more games to play, especially if it calls for playing better and better teams as they go.
Winning the toughest conference in football is always an accomplishment. We all want more, but i'm not going to complain about winning the SEC.
Anyone who thinks winning the SEC is not an accomplishment is nuts. Yes, the national title is out of reach, but a 12-2 SEC champion and Sugar Bowl champion LSU team w/ two losses in triple overtime goes down as one of the very best ever to wear P&G.
People/Media were making exuses for him against Georgia about his shoulder. But the only answer I could think of is Only Losers make Excuses. I dont like him either and wish someone would hit him especially when he runs the option and pitches it however he does dominate a game and does it both in the air and on the ground.
Well, no, but with all of the hype and superior depth and coaching we supposedly have this season, everyone's expectations were sky-high. So, I don't think it is that people expect an undefeated season, I think it is that we want a season where we get better and better and whatever loss we get should come at the beginning, when LSU is still figuring things out - i.e. '03. As the season progressed, LSU should have known that a soft zone doesn't work well, running more isn't a bad thing, penalties should be on the decline, mobile QBs can hurt you, and McFadden is good.
