I didn't say Bush spending cuts. I said "tax cuts + Spending"........... I can see how you would think I have no clue when you didn't read what I said. It is a good thing you "know what you are talking about"..
Winston, I am afraid that you are the one who is facing some mathematical challenges my friend. Balancing the budget is a process, not something that happens in one fatal swoop. The first step in that process, given the situation we find ourselves, is to stabilize the debt to gdp ratio; which we've almost done. Now, what this means is that the legislation has been put into place to bring our budget into balance over a period of time. I was very clear that balancing the budget will be impossible until we close down Afghanistan and current legislation as it pertains to spending cuts and tax increases have time to take effect. I am a bit puzzled by your assessment of how gdp growth is tied to our debt ratio. If the economy grows then our debt to gdp ration goes down, not up. According to your figures if gdp growth doubled next year, our debt would double also. Think about that for a second: If gdp growth jumped to 4 or 5 percent, would our debt turn into 32 trillion? I don't think so. I don't know who you are talking to for your economic numbers but we've never had a ten year period when gdp growth stayed at 4-5%; it just doesn't happen. So to insist that we'll need that kind of growth to pull out of this is inaccurate and impossible given the criteria. We need sustained growth of around 3-4 percent with a year or two over 5 percent and then for it to level out around 3 percent. Believe it or not, growing too fast can present troubles too.....ask China.
you are correct. I misread your statement. that said, you have too porous an understanding of how the economy works my friend. I don't know if it was this thread or not but I recently posted that our economy is 2009 was like a drunk who had been on a bender since 2000. I don't know if you know anything about alcohol treatment but if you take someone who has been drinking heavily for many years and make them quit cold turkey they can die from shock. Today they have medicines that they give in rehab to help them to step down but in the old days they would slowly wean them off the bottle. In many respects our economy was no different in 2009. We had been getting drunk on spending like a sailor and if Obama had taken office, cut spending like a butcher and raised taxes on everyone it would have been like making that drunk quit cold turkey and it could have irreperable damaged the overall economy. By slowly reducing the Bush Tax Cuts and reducing spending at a manageable pace, we've avoided the sharp downturns or toxic shock. If you can't understand that this is the way these things play out then I can't help you my friend. so, to summarize: I misread your statement, but your still wrong.
No, you still didn't read. I said it was "funny". Need anymore assistance? So to summarize, you still didn't read so its a good thing you "know what you are talking about".
so you are at the end of your rope on this issue? why else would you beleaguer the point for a riff on semantics? come on Pride.....
Dude. It's not my fault you go off on a tangent because you didn't read. I also said the easiest choice isn't always the best path. Care to gander at what the fuck that means? I agree with you dipshit. Fuck you are dense. I said it was fucking funny and I think it is. Jesus.
We have now passed three pieces of legislation that are related to deficit reduction in the past eighteen months, two of which we will not realize the full effect of until fiscal year 2014 since they've only been passed in the past 12 months. Your figures are skewed because you are relying upon old baselines. The CBO will be out with new baseline numbers, which are updated yearly, in March and these additional deficit reduction measures will be reflected. Yes, our deficits are structural but so are the legistlative measures we've taken to correct them. Just like this mess was not created in a day, or month or year, it will also take time to fully correct. That said, we are on the right path. To be fair there are some things that still need to fall into place for this to be accomplished. Most importantly, congress and the President either need to agree on 1.2 trillion in additional spending cuts to replace the sequester or allow the sequester cuts to fully take effect. According to the article I posted if we can achieve that 1.2 trillion number that we can also save an additional 200 billion in saved interest payments. Bull shit. You are doing it now and it's blatant as hell dude. If you understood the issue perfectly you wouldn't be regurgitating the rights talking points. How many people, right or left, do you hear claiming that we are closer to being out of the woods than most people think? Yep, you are a real rebel my friend. I have no reason to insult you Supa. I'm pretty sure you are a good dude who pulls their weight; a squirrel trying to get a nut just like the rest of us. That said, you are off base on this one and I am as puzzled as hell as to why you fail to see the reason behind what I am saying. I get it that Obama isn't the second coming but on the vast majority of topics right now is more correct than the current crops of Republicans. It's nothing personal, just the way things are right now. Twenty years from now I will likely be voting for a Republican if the current trend holds true. Generally one party gets more power, takes it too far, starts cow towing to the extreme elements of their party and the other side seizes the center ground and the tides shift. This will happen again but for right now, as a whole, the Republican party is out of touch with a majority of the American people on social and economic issues.
no, you are a flaming dip shit and if I didn't take the time to educate you about these things you might never learn. I'm fucking with you Pride.....I assure you that I am not angry. It's a public debate forum and we are here to debate, not slap asses and play football coach. That's for Saturday nights in Tiger Stadium baby.
I'd like to have a beer with you too, Pride. I am sure we'd have a good time plus I could continue to teach you a thing or two young grasshopper.
