Heard this on the radio today, and i know the polls are crap, but are the AP voters disrespecting Auburn by not having them in the top 25 while they are undefeated and putting almost 500 yards a game of offense?
of course. polls are a popularity contest and since every media hack slammed auburn for their chizik hire, including every fan, they'd have to admit they were wrong at this point by voting Auburn where they belonged. also, most voters dont remember Alabama has 2 schools since nickie has taken over.
I dont think so. Auburn has a lot to prove after their dismal showing last year. If they win this week they will be in the top 25. I've watched aub-mooU & aub-latech and came away somewhat impressed but their defense has issues. I watched the last bit of ball st and they looked bad. I think they can score on almost anyone but I dont think they can stop many. They only have 75 scholarship players. Its basically a probation like roster. The fact they are 4-0 given those circumstances is surprising.
dude any team 4-0 at this point of the season clearly gets voted in top 25. especially with so many already having one loss. even troy or wofford would be in the top 25 if undefeated.
That makes sense to you and i, and everyone who follows the SEC and has watched Auburn play. But alot of these voters haven't watched Auburn, nor do they know the situation. To me, disrespecting Auburn, is disrespecting the SEC. There are 14 1 loss teams in the top 25 right now. Cal, Oregon, BYU, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Georgia, Miami, Penn St, Oklahoma St, Virginia Tech, Ohio State, Oklahoma, USC, Georgia Tech. A 4-0 Iowa team is sitting at 13, this team had to block 2 field goals to beat Eastern Iowa or something like that. No disrespect, i happen to like Iowa, but come on. This is why i think there should be no polls until after week 6. Maybe Auburn is a pretender, who knows, but i guess the point of this was to say that the polls are ridiculous.
Auburn is #27 in the AP and #28 in the Coaches... they'll be in the Top 25 if they win their next game. But yeah, I do think they should be ranked higher right now.
hammer meet nail! they should've looked bad against Ball State .... the "last bit" you watched featured most of auburn's scout team on defense. Auburn's issue on defense is strictly depth. With the offense scoring so quickly (so far this season), the 1st string defense has gotten a lot of snaps, more than they should. We've been forced to play a lot of underclassmen, especially on D. There have been 34 Auburn players that have seen their playing debut so far this season .... roughly half of the entire team. The Tennessee game will reveal a lot about the true prospects for Auburn's success this season. But there's little doubt this is a rebuilding year for AU. IMO, we won't win a ton of games, .... but Auburn is going to be a very dangerous team this year .... capable of beating any team on the schedule, particularly if we remain relatively healthy. Objects in mirror may be closer than they appear .....
Auburn should be in the top 15 right now, at least, but early polls are based upon past performances and future expectations. I'll bet you that dude from Ohio has them pretty high.
