He is a runner and a receiver, but he is not in the mix as a quarterback. Since Lee has not proven to be reliable, but he still subs for JJ, it appears that Shepard is really a two-dimensional rather than a three-dimensional player. I don't think he has been allowed to attempt a pass all season.
He's not a true QB this year, but he may get a shot next season. Shepard's future likely does not lie at quarterback and he was not recruited at QB by most schools. He's not passing right now because the coaches know his virtues and limitations. His virtues are obvious and he has time to develop his passing game. He was smart not to attend a school that would have started him in game one.
The off-season will decide. Depends on several factors: Does Lee stay? Does Jefferson continue to improve? Where is Garrett right now as a passer? And most importantly, how much does Shepard improve his passing skills? Oh... and Zach Lee go baseball?
I dont think it is in the plans for RS to be a QB at LSU...the idea is to make him a percy havin type player
That's good to hear about Garrett. Saw him play some high school ball, dude is a pure passer 100% and I think he'll be a great QB at LSU. I said it in an earlier thread, but I think there's a reason we haven't seen Shep line up at QB and throw. Although, I think it would surprise some folks who see him only as a runner at the position.
