My opinion is that RP will be good but not great. Yes, he is uber-talented but he hasn't shown me anything this year that has me excited for next year. He has constantly missed on his deep throws (watch the very end of the Tulane game for a couple examples) and he has hurt LSU almost everytime he's been in the last 7-8 games. He doesn't seem to pay attention to the play clock...at all but that is correctable and I hope that he puts the effort into small things like that which will make him a great QB. He is a gunslinger and will throw more deep balls but will also throw a lot of bad INT's due to the gunslinger attitude.
associated with someone who commited forgery, fake id, out drinking on a bye week and getting in an arguement with the bouncers, yeah he is a real thug. To me I don't see what the problem is that people have with him. Guess I would rather him just stay in his dorm room and study game tapes or something like that but you really cant expect that from a 20 year old college kid.
If people can remember what's important (winning) then all of the other stuff takes care of itself. Unfortunately, there's too many mamby pamby judgmental hypocritical panty waists out there. Nevertheless, he'll perservere and win the Heisman and MNC in '09.
I don't think he has really been in games long enough to really see what he can do. Maybe tommorrow he'll get his chance. I'm looking forward to it and hope he does well.
How old ARE you? I didn't call him a thug. He's given the coaching staff ample opportunities to question his commitment to the team. If the things in your post mean nothing to you, then I hope RP doesn't hang out with you because he deserves better friends. He's a fella with a very bright and lucrative future and all he needs to do is grow up. Seems like a fair expectation. But apparently, leaving a bar at 2am without giving bouncers reason to start crap is too much for you to expect. Like I said - hope Ryan steers clear of folks with your expectations of behavior.
It's not my term, but a term I've seen applied to him on this forum. Sorry, didn't mean to imply that you said it. It's just that i get tired of seeing threads on this forum questioning his character. It just seams that that question would have been put to rest by now, as more has been made of it that what was necessary, but then out of nowhere another thread about it pops up. The kid is just trying to get by and do the best he can for this team, yet his character is constantly being questioned by his own fans. Everyone has made mistakes in there lives and there is no reason to blow such minor incidents out of proportion.
Hopefully, the taste of success that he experienced tonight will be enough to change his attitude. I know he was lovin' it. The rest of the SEC should be worried. The kid is just getting started.
1st career start: 80% completion rate, 300 yards, 3 TDs 2nd career start: A 66.7% completion rate against a legit team after an absence of 5-6 weeks, 1 TD (impressive one too) and 245 yards. That's all despite an injury to his finger in his throwing hand. May I add he took home the MVP trophy too. I see a trend there and it looks good. The future looks bright. So is he the QB of the future? Definately. Good but not great? ask Miles about that.:thumb: SEC ring and MVP trophy is all I have to say right now.
btw, for any of you interested, it is predicted that the former LSU machine at QB would play tomorrow.
