I'm definitely not up to date as much as most of you guys, but I'm curious how successful recruiting has been in relation to needed areas, not in relation to the number of stars or points. (Italics = not commited) Should we be worried about linebacker? What about punter? I guess we don't need a running back, but OG, DE, and S are all up in the air. What does it all mean? QB 15 Jarret Lee RB 01 Joe McKnight FB 05 Stevan Ridley WR 01 Terrance Toliver WR 03 Deonte Thompson WR JC Demetrius Byrd WR 06 Ron Brooks WR 07 DeAngelo Benton WR 46 Toddrick Bajoie TE 05 Mitch Joseph TE 09 Jordan Corbin TE 20 Alex Russian OT 10 Jarvis Jones OT 24 D'Montreal Wilson OT 31 Ernest McCoy OT 78 Josh Dworaczyk OG 63 Marquis Franklin C 08 T-Bob Hebert DT 04 Joseph Barksdale DT 19 Drake Nevis DT 22 Will Blackwell DT 30 Kentravis Aubrey DE 16 Sidell Corley DE 48 Marquis Frazier MLB -- SLB -- WLB -- S 01 Chad Jones S 08 Stefoin Francois S 15 Christian Scott CB 08 John Williams CB 13 Phelon Jones CB 62 Delvin Breaux K 03 Andrew Crutchfield K 12 Josh Jasper P --
What!!! We'll have the no. 1 RB/ATH, the no. 1 S, the no. 1 WR, a GREAT set of DT/DE, a QB who is in my opinion one of the best coming out of highschool (after seeing his tape), and a lot of good players in all positions!!! What more do we need? WRT LBs, we currently have a great set of starting LBs, so I dont see any urgent need for them, we got ourselves 2 kickers to replace CJ (I guess they know how to punt too)
This class is turning out to be the best that LSU has ever had. Sure we could of used one or two more top OL and maybe one more LB. We recruited many LBs last year and we will be signing Clemmons with this class and he might be moved to LB. I dont see any big holes and Les has done a hell of a job with or without the remaining recruits who are undecided on our board.:thumb:
If we do land McKnight, Jones, and Toliver this could possibly be the best class LSU has ever had. There will be a lot of big time talent regardless, but with those guys I think it brings the class up to the best ever at LSU.
Deonte Thompson- not a option anymore because of WR commits So he isn't coming even if Toliver doesn't choose LSU? Andrew Crutchfield-- I think will be punter and other kicks I thought the line between kickers and punters was kind of fuzzy. I was basically just curious if it is balanced. I was a little troubled by the lack of DEs, LBs, and safeties (still in doubt). Seems like most of the players are WRs and TEs. We have DTs and OTs too, but aren't they the slower of the linemen? I don't want to see us move away from the speed the SEC is known for and I hope to stay on top of the national defensive rankings. It seemed like Dinardo got good skill players but let some of the less glamorous positions get a little thin. I don't want to see a repeat of that.
Well based on the fact we got 2 of the better kickers in the nation, I would say it's a pretty fair class.
