Sometimes nothing can be done to change someone's course, but sometimes someone can affect an outcome. And after hearing Mile's recent crazy talk, i'm inclined to ponder that maybe, just maybe, when Mile's and Perrilloux were having one of their heart-to-hearts, maybe Mile's didn't say the right thing, maybe he left RP feeling confused, a big foggy, maybe just downright baffled as to what the hell Mile's meant, or even was talking about. I can imagine something like.... Ryan walks into Coach Mile's office and sits down across from him. "Sit down, Ryan." Miles offers. After a long pause, Ryan says, "Is this about me missing that last class, Coach?" Miles leans forward and shakes his head 'no'. "Son, you go to McDonald's, you have to wait in line?" "Sometimes, sure" "But the wait is okay, the burger's good, huh?" "Well, there's always Burger King or Wendy's if the line's too long?" "Listen to me Ryan, don't you ever forget ketchup, salt, pepper, and napkins. EVER!" "What?" "The essentials are the key." "Huh?" "There's no Big Mac without ketchup. Not on my team, not on my watch. Let it happen again, and you'll be starving, staring at me eating two Big Macs in Warm Cozy McDonald's with your nose pressed against the cold, fogged up glass. Now get out my office!!!"
Think about why the administration made the choice to hire this coach after the previous one.:huh:
Obviously, you care about integrity. I think we can almost book it. Look how long he stuck with Lee and lead us to believe that JJ can barely tie his shoes. Peveto is only a figurehead on the sideline, and Mallory has been in Miles' back pocket for 8 years. Peveto will get the ax, and Mallory will assume head defensive coordinator. Remember, Peveto came to LSU from Middle-Tennessee, and Mallory came to LSU from OSU. I think if anyone at all gets fired, and there is a chance they stick with both of them for another season, it'll be Peveto. It's nice to not throw people under the bus, but c'mon. He's making himself look like a buffoon in front of the nation and the LSU faithful when he says that there were only TWO plays he would have changed against UGA, LSU's defense was ready for Florida, LSU's defense played well against Ole Miss, and my favorite... that LSU has played 4 quarters all season. Give me a freaking break! I like Miles, but if this offseason approaches and nothing happens with these coordinators, I will lose confidence in him.
yeah cajun, i agree with you. every thing i've heard is that mallory will stay and pevato will be gone. and that's fine with me. while defensive play calling has been bad how do we actually know the players are running the correct plays? pevato is the one who is responsible for getting the packages and plays in on time and that is the single biggest problem with the defense right now. pevato also was the one responsible for punt ugly and our mostly lack luster special teams since miles has been here (except this year, that's the new guys fault). so really, losing pevato would be a step up for us, but if mallory cannot get the defense to play better technique next year... i fear that we might not have miles as a head coach anymore.
from what i hear and this may be false, the new guy was told that the special teams punt formations and whatnot were to be left the way they were.
Les averaged 11 wins a season in his first 4 years here. He's not going to be replaced unless he has two losing seasons like Dinardo. 7-5 or 8-4 is NOT a losing season. LSU is not going to win 11 games a season forever . . . no one ever has, no one ever will. 8-5 this season does not mean a losing season must follow. Give me a break. If Mallory had the right stuff, Peveto's presence would not have kept him from succeeding. This 2008 defense is a double failure and will require a new man.
did you read what i wrote? maybe the play calls are correct and would succeed if pevato actually communicated them to the players and actually got the right packages in on time. those are bradley's responsibilities and that's where our defense fails the most this year. not only that but bradley has tried to start multiple fights with other coaches, including robinson, this season alone. he's the cancer, he's who the players don't want to play for and he's the one that miles needs to speak candidly about instead of praising a crappy effort.
That would be bad since Mallory is the true DC. He is also the DB coach and the DB's look dazed and confused on nearly every play with WR's running down field uncovered. It needs to be a package deal, can them both.
