Last night i watched Les' latest press conference, and before i start this, let me make this clear. I like Les Miles. I want Les Miles to be the coach at LSU. As long as Les is winning games, I will never call for his head. That being said, last night a question was asked to Les about the option. The guy asked Les (and i am paraphrasing) "you talked about simplifying the offense, and we have noticed that Jordan has trouble running the option, are you going to take that out of the playbook?" Les' response (paraphrasing) " we haven't seen anything to lead us to believe that Jordan can't run the option." Ok, is he protecting JJ, or does he really believe that Jordan is a good option quarterback?
First off I agree with you about Les, Crowton is on my chopping block though his offensive schemes are non-prouductive to say the least. Secondly, I think Les is defending Jefferson because he is not a good option quarterback. However, anytime they run the option it is very PREDICTABLE, the defense smells it coming from a mile away. Also another reason Les is defending him is because Les thinks JJ is the best QB they got. Maybe he right, maybe he is wrong is debatable, but he is the head coach and what he says goes.
Can anybody remember the last time the play gained more than 5 yards? Take it out of the playbook. Can anybody remember the last time we threw a screen pass? Put it in the playbook.
Les can't possibly be stupid enough to actually believe that. The option has been disastrous every time Jefferson has run it for the last year, and he's fully aware of that. It's just typical Miles-speak.
I don’t know why they are committed to running the damn thing. In my opinion the option is for teams that lack the ability to throw the ball. JJ has a great arm, and we have a talented group of receivers. It should be pass first and then let Ridley run it down the opposing teams gullet. BTW, I think Les is a good coach and I've been defending JJ for two years know...I'm hoping that both of them will prove my confidence in them right this weekend. If not, f*ck them both and start Lee.
Come on fellers, how long have you been away from Mayberry. Critics and coaches have their own language. Translation: CRITIC: "Coach, tell us what the State defense doesn't need to prepare for and is your quarterback a doofus who can't run the option?" COACH: "You're a nimrod who wouldn't know football if it bit you in the ass.">
This should be the standard answer for every question asked by a sideline reporter. They're completely useless. Personally, I've always liked the Lou Holtz approach of talking up the opposition like every starter is a 1st round draft pick, even if his team was playing Southwestern East Indiana Community College.
