There is a perceptionis that Les Miles is an idiot and a bad coach, and I've found that most of the supposedly-neutral people who tell me that are fans of a team Miles has beaten (sometimes quiet badly and embarrassingly). They say, "Yeah, well, he's not a good coach." It's sort of like a third grader throwing weak smack in the schoolyard. "Yeah, well..."
As soon as he stops having winning teams I will let you know if I think he isn't a good coach.:milesmic:
I think Miles is a good, solid coach. He is far from a great coach. His strength is his gutsy style. Miles just has a way to lead people by being a good man. By having faith in his players, allowing them to play to win. I do agree that Miles needs great assistants to help out, Xs and Os arent his strongest suit. The kids love Miles, that also goes a long ways. You dont win a title or 4 of 5 seasons with 10 wins without being good. My complaint is that since the title game I dont see that same ballsy style of coaching. I dont see kids being coached up. I just think the last two seasons have left a lot to question. Ill say this about Miles, you wont ever find a better man to be your coach. You can see his genuine love for LSU, BR, La, and most of all his players.
I think Miles is a good coach, maybe not the best money can buy,but who would you want if Miles left? The people that BOO at Tiger Stadium should stay home and BOOOOOO at the TV.:geaux:
this seems to be the prevaling mind set of the gumps recent.... as if somehow we don't belong at the big table recent.... in their respective histories the gumps are # 7 in all-time wins LSU is #12 since they began playing football the gumps have won 70% of their games.....LSU 64% in the last 15 yrs the gumps' record (despite their recent success)? 114-69 LSU's? 127-54-1 the gumps have been great and a historic program 4 mnc's before 1935 3 more in the 60's 3 more in the 70's their last one in 1992......17 years ago the last SEC championship? 1999....the gumps haven't won the sec this decade since the last time the gumps won the sec, LSU has played in 4 seccg's winning 3 won :crystal::crystal: LSU's success ain't recent bub
He certainly would have punted the ball on 4th down deep in his own territory vs the Colts. Unlike Belichick who lost the game for the Patriots.
With a Sugar Bowl victory and National Title under his belt, I'd say he's better than a good coach. Every coach has a down year, but the best always come back. This year isn't even a down year. The Capital One Bowl is only 1 game away for the Tigers. 50-13 at LSU, that's excellent.
