He wouldn't venture a record. He said "a tough time" with our schedule. He'll probably call 9-3 a tough time. I call it a winning season in the SEC.
Put me in the "cautiously optimistic" category. Nine and three ain't going to be easy this year, trust me. Its referred to in part above but losing RP really hurt the program. It not only hurt not having him on the field but in recruiting QBs while he was here. A "double whammy" so to speak.
i agree with all of this. add in the factor the first young qb melted down from the pressure, and that didnt help the timeline for rebuilding. and i am not blaming jl. it wasnt his fault he got thrown into that situation. its just a shame it appears the pressure got to him.
No. If someone comes to your front door and says you should dance naked in your front yard - don't - it is spam.
Very well said. I would add that most of our successful years have come with Jr and Sr QB's, not Frosh and Soph. I think that having to start QB's over that last 2 seasons, that obviously haven't been ready, is most definitely a factor in some of our shortcomings. That said, it hasn't been the only reason. If JJ can just play a good game manager, the OL plays up to its talent level, the run game is explosive, and the D continues to improve, we will have a good solid season. I know it sounds oooohhh so simple, but it obviously isn't. I, like you, am cautiously optimistic that Coach Miles and the rest of the coaching staff are up to the task of getting this team back to playing dominant LSU football. I would not be disappointed in a 9-3 season, if we show improvement and we win at least 2 of the 4 monkey on our back games. Miles has to get this team to win at least 2 of these against Bama, UF, Ark, and Ole Miss. This team has the talent, but will they utilize it, will they play as a team, will there be that 1-2 special players that play with an unstoppable LSU Tiger heart. We will see. geaux: :tigereye: :LSU231:
I said that we will have a tough time, but not necessarily b/c of our schedule. Izzy's right. I meant like a 7-5. I won't go into detail, but from what I've heard, CLM has lost the locker room. If this is, in fact, the case 7-5 is a possibility. Again, I won't go into detail b/c alot of you don't want to hear it, but from what I've heard everything ain't rosey in the ol' Tiger locker room. edit: Keep in mind that this post is coming from someone who has supported Miles throughout. I like Les Miles and have always defended him (except for maybe right after the Ole Miss game last year). My train of thought may have recently changed, however. I still support him, but I got my eye on the guy.
I'm interested in exactly what else could cost Les his job. Yeah, we hear unsubstantiated Internet rumors a lot, usually not from TF veterans. They don't go into details because there ain't no details. And they don't cite sources because there ain't no sources. When you make a charge like that on an LSU fan board you really should back it up or wait until you can, amigo. Now someone will read your post and use it an "evidence" that there is trouble at LSU and it will be all over rival boards within a week and coaches will then have to defend themselves to recruits over what is in all probability a BS story. Who needs that chit?
This is my big concern this year. With a "normal" schedule year in the SEC I think there would be a legitimate chance to get to Atlanta and perhaps beyond. However this year with our crazy SEC schedule it might over shadow any improvements we might see. Having said that if we do go 9-3 or 10-2 I will be very impressed with our team's improvement. Should be an interesting/scary year.
