Get a grip and be real! you're comparing a 19 year old Freshman with Jamie Howard???? :dis: If Lee was a Jr. or Sr. and still playing like that, THEN you can call him Howard. But until Lee is in his Junior or Senior season (hell, even Soph.) like Howard was when he was putting up stats like that, THEN you can compare...
At first I thought this was an outlandish statement but your nic looked familiar. You also said this about our baseball coach: At least you are consistent in your premature fatalism. In the future, I will just disregard your proclamations.
As a matter of fact: As Freshmen starting QB's: Jarrett Lee 106 of 189 for 56% 12 TD's 10 INT's 1427 yards (thru 8 games) Stafford 135 of 256 for 53% 7 TD's 13 INT's 1749 yards Tebow 22 of 33 for 66% 5 TD's and 1 INT for 358 yards Bradford 237 of 341 for 69% 36 TD's and 8 INT's for 3121 yards Daniel 38 of 66 for 58% 1 TD and 2 INT's for 347 yards Harrell 37 of 55 for 67% 3 TD's and 0 INT's for 422 yards McCoy 217 of 318 for for 70% 29 TD's and 7 INT's for 2570 yards Tebow, Daniel and Harrell weren't full-time starters in their Freshman seasons so I won't rank them in statistical categories as none of them attempted more than 66 passes. Comp % 1. McCoy (turned into a Heisman trophy contender) 2. Bradford (turned into a Heisman trophy contender) 3. Lee 4. Stafford (turned into an All-SEC QB and team was title contender) Yards 1. Bradford 2. McCoy 3. Stafford 4. Lee (trails Stafford by <330 yards with 4 gms left) TD's 1. Bradford 2. McCoy 3. Lee 4. Stafford INT's 1. Stafford 2. Lee (could throw more INT's than Stafford by season's end) 3. Bradford 4. McCoy Daniel, Harrell and Tebow had the help of not being forced into the starting role in their Fresh. seasons and had 2--maybe even 3, depending on RS-years, to improve and be groomed. Tebow won the Heisman. McCoy and Bradford could win it this year. Harrell plays in an offensive scheme that has pretty much been top 3 every season in passing offense since Leach took over as HC (and guess how many Texas Tech QB's are on NFL rosters? ZIP! Further proving that it's more "system" than talent so it doesn't matter what guady #'s Harrell puts up...Oh! and for all of that passing offense at TT, there are exactly 2 WR's from TT on NFL rosters right now). So, no, while Lee hasn't played as well as Bradford and McCoy when they were Freshmen, those two guys are also Heisman trophy finalists. Not every QB can be a Heisman trophy finalist. JaMarcus wasn't and he was a #1 over-all pick. Matthew Stafford isn't, and he's an All-SEC player and the most accurate comparison to Jarrett Lee. And Lee could surpass Stafford's Freshmen stats in terms of yards and comp %. Sure, he could throw 3 or more INT's over the next 4 games...but he's also sure likely to double Stafford's TD total, too.
dont tell me what my post meant. It meant I was more disappointed in people like you; pseudo-fans, than jarret lee. jh was average to bad most every game. oh wait, im thinking josh booty.
Josh Booty's stats for 2000 season: PASSING GP Effic Att-Cmp-Int Pct Yds TD Lng Avg/G -------------------------------------------------------------------- Josh Booty 10 120.44 290-145-15 50.0 2121 17 80 212.1 That was his last season. Here is the 1999 season: PASSING GP Effic Att-Cmp-Int Pct Yds TD Lng Avg/G --------------------------------------------------------------- Josh Booty 10 90.34 333-162-19 48.6 1830 7 58 183.0 Note the # of touchdowns to interceptions and percentage completions stats. Compared to these stats, Jarrett Lee doesn't look so bad. As pointed out above, if the picks don't go for touchdowns, his stats wouldn't bother most of us as much. All stats are copied and pasted from LSUSports.net .
the best myth is he gave back a million from baseball for LSU. dude did it because his clause in his contract had run out and he was headed to the minors since he couldnt hit a curve ball. his remaining lotto ticket was hopes of a huge nfl contract which he wrongfully assumed he could get but worth the gamble I suppose.
I should have said about to run out. same thing. he knew his career would never be attached to a curve ball. the rest is true.
