Is it too early to do a preseason top 5 for 2011?

    1. Oregon
    2. Oklahoma
    3. LSU
    4. Alabama
    5. Florida State

Ok Oregon has alot coming back on offense, they lose some pieces on defense, and will be beatable.

Oklahoma has a whole lot coming back, and the will be ranked either 1 or 2 in my opinion.

LSU a solid 3rd. I thought we would be top 3 going into 2011, I still think we are, regardless if Miles is back or not.

Alabama, I just can't put them any higher than 4 because they lose Ingram, Julio probably, McElroy, Dareus, Barron. They can fill in but it will take some time for them to click.

Wow, the ACC cracks the top 5. Media is all over Jimbeaux's nuts, they will be the favorite to win the ACC because of the losses to VA Tech including Williams and Taylor. Maybe you could insert Florida there.

I wouldn't put us in the top 3 next year. We lose Patrick Peterson, Drake Nevis, Kelvin Sheppard, Josh Jasper, and Terrence Toliver who were all pretty big for us this past year. Not saying we won't be great, but I don't think we can be top 3 after losing that much on defense and special teams (unless we have another stud kicker waiting). I am hoping I'm wrong.

I would say top 10 right now and we'll see how everything goes with recruiting and the offseason before I put us in the top 5 if we should be.

Alabama has already had Julio, Dareus, and Ingram declare. I think they stay about where they are. That's a lot to lose...especially considering losing McElroy and Dareus.

LeMicheal James is gone for Oregon, but I think they start top 10.

I think LSU is top 6 or 8.

I honestly think...whether deserved or not...tOSU starts on top.

FSU is nowhere near the top 5.

But to be honest, it IS too early. We need to see what happens on NSD, and also in Spring games. For that matter, fall camp. I think polls shouldn't really come out until about week six...but I get the fun of the thread.

And no poll would be complete without mention of Notre Dame...lol. Hey, they won a bowl game!

You lost me at Toliver. I watched more than just the Cotton Bowl though...

Only reason I have us in top 3 is because I look around, and who is a legit 3? Sure isn't going to be anyone in the Big 10, Ohio State is going to be down their entire offense 5 games through the season, Michigan is Michigan, State may be in the top 15, Iowa, could be top 10, Wisconsin may be top 5 don't really know what they have coming back.

Nebraska maybe? They have alot returning.

In the Pac 10, Oregon and Stanford are your big boys, USC will cause some problems maybe.

ACC you have Florida State and everyone else.

Big East is going to come down to West Virginia, USF, and Louisville, but I don't see any top 10 teams there...

Big 12, Oklahoma will be at 1 or 2, Texas may vault back up to be top 12, Mizzou could be ranked top 15.

    Then you have the SEC.

    Alabama
    Arkansas
    Auburn
    Florida
    Georgia
    LSU
    Mississippi State
    Tennessee
could all be ranked in the top 25 at the beginning of next season.

LSU and Alabama top 10, maybe Florida and Arkansas top 10.

Meh...depends on who they hire, IMO. I know Luck's coming back, but that's one instance where it's clear the coach made a difference.

Assuming Cam leaves, I wonder if AU will be the lowest ever starting in the polls after a BCSNC?

Don't forget the Buckeye 5 will not be playing in the first 5 games going against all logic....
