yes he did. RP had to go. Until the UGA game, we had 2 QBs allowing us to Redshirt JJ. Since he was 3rd string and going to be red-shirted, he probaby has very few if any real snaps with the 1st (or even 2nd) team in practice. This means he ain't phucking ready. The coaching staff sees something in this kid that tells them he ain't ready to be thrown to the wolves. Looks like he swung and missed n this one. And???
I think it was too late to play JJ yesterday against the no. 1 team in the land. Reason being, JJ has yet to take a meaningful snap this yr. Like Charles Hanigriff said last night, Tulane was a glorified scrimmage game. Since Miles took off the red-shirt, JJ should have played a lot of the Tulane game. Miles might think that JJ isn't ready, but what if Lee gets hurt? If on the first play of the game yesterday Lee takes a shot to the knee and is out for the game, what then? Im not gonna say if JJ was our QB we would be better. But I don't think he could be any worse than Lee, so give him a shot. And if at this point in the season JJ isn't ready to play, then that's on the coaches. If they can't even teach him 8-10 plays, then our QB situation is even worse than we think. I think JJ has to see significant playing time against Troy. Ole Miss and even Arkansas on the road are gonna be tough games.
Sorry that everyone cant drink the koolaid like you OR think everything is great when there are problems. Just because a fan is out there making observations and posting them on a sports forum to vent does not make them any less of a fan. You have a Qb who is struggling and destroying his name why would the coach not but someone else in there just to change it up alittle...to me thats a no brainer..but I guess not to a GREAT repeat poster like yourself. its repeat buisness such as yours that makes this place great!
The time to play a true freshman QB without a single pass under his belt is when we're winning by three scores in the 4th quarter against an OOC opponent. NOT when you're playing the #1 team in the country in a tight game.
Agreed Crip! If this was a "purple and gold glasses wearing forum" only, it would be a very boring forum. I mean, we ALL know none of us can coach any better than Miles, or play any better than Lee. But to point out when something is wrong doesn't make someone any less of a fan then the other. Im the type that points out when LSU does good, and also points out when they do bad. But one thing I will NEVER do, is question the heart and character of the team. LSU plays their hearts out each and every week. I know Lee isn't playing well at all, but the kid is trying his best. He isn't going out there and trying to throw picks.
In an ideal situtation yeah I agree. But on the 3rd down play when Lee scrambled out and took the puss route and threw the dump pass unstead of running for it who would have been better in there? We get that 1st down and who knows the outcome changes. Its not ideal for him to go in against Bama but you cant just keep beating your head against the wall knowing its only gonna hurt. Sometimes you gotta take chances, yesterday was one of those times!
Good post DOTB. :thumb: I don't have a problem criticizing Miles and the coaching staff. They get paid, and in Miles case big bucks to do what they do. What I have a problem with is some of the garbage written about LSU players, who as far as I can tell are giving it their all on the playing field. Now specifically to Lee. Do I wish he were playing better and not throwing the pick 6's? Of course I do. Do I wish that he didn't lock onto the receiver when the huddle broke? Of course I do. Do I wish that I had seen noticeable improvement from game to game? Of course I do. But to use an old poker phrase, "You've got to play the hand you're dealt." Now I'm not an insider but I suspect there's a pretty good reason why JJ isn't seeing any action. Once again, Les gets paid big bucks to make those decisions. And somewhere down the road if it's apparent that Les is no longer making the correct decisions then the LSU administration will be confronted with a decision to make.
Good thing you are not the coach then, because pulling a redshirt Freshman for a true freshman not only destroys the confidence of the RS Fr, it also ruins the true freshman by letting him get baptized against a Nick Saban defense. Playing Jefferson against Alabama was a no go. Playing Jefferson for significant time against Troy, and to a lesser extent Ole Miss and Arkansas, however, is fine by me. Either way, any "fan" who thinks they know more than the coaching staff, or will actually change anything by bitching, is not a "fan" but a "fool". Nothing wrong with venting after a game....and by "venting" I do not mean making inane observations, like approximately 75% of the message board fan population in general is prone to doing.
Quality assessment. I think we will see JJ this weekend against Troy. Depending on his stats we may see him against Ole Miss as well. Right you are but some of the things that have been said about Lee are just inexcusable. Unless you arecapable of leading the defending national champions at one of the most important positions on the field you need to close your mouth.
