''I know games like this, when we play teams like Towson, it just seemed liked guys were not into it,'' Mettenberger said. Are we playing like a Div II team, because that's the division we're playing in? Yeah, I know there was Washington and Auburn, but Towson, North Texas and another one I can't even remember. All this schedule has accomplished is made us sloppy and hurt our players. I don't know who is doing the scheduling for LSU, but I could do better. We need one warm up game to start the season to get the kinks out and then start playing teams that would challenge us, like last year. Do recruits say, "yeah I want to go to LSU to play games like Towson"? We should be the top ranked team in Div II though.
This is a good question, almost as though the season doesn't really start until October 6 vs UF. I mentioned this on another thread, and it seems plausible that the schedule downgrade this year hasn't been beneficial to the team. Quite a difference preparting for the likes of Oregon and WVU as compared with UNT, Idaho, and Towson. How did Towson end up on the schedule anyway??
I think a better question is how ALL of our OOC games got front-loaded at the beginning of the schedule with no break from SEC play.
UW and AU were supposed to be good teams. The schedule is set pretty far in advance and when it was made, it looked like a good schedule. UW and AU did not hold up their end of the bargin as far as what the pollsters are looking for. Apparently the pollsters and fans that don't have a lot of respect for them could be wrong. UW looked fine against Stunford and AU played pretty good ball this year at times. And Mett is not the brightest bulb. They need to keep him away from the press.
