Is it the poor recruiting, poor coaching or both?

There is a lot more parity among teams than what the record shows.

Not sure where you have been. They have always played up against LSU and not given them an easy time. They are not as loaded on the talent side as LSU, but it seems to me that they are not as horrible as you think.

The team is still work-in-progress, but not as dismal as you portrayed. Aside from coaching, the players still has got to take some responsibility. It is a matter of them them maturing on top of their physical talents.

I think it is time to prescribe some Elavil for you..........

Didn't we have a lot of nail bitter cardiac games when JR was here? An ugly win is a win, better than a loss, as long as you can find ways to win at the end. I look forward to Miss. St. creating some upset wins down the season, ESPECIALLY for teams that look down on them like you!

Yes, but the defense gave up 374 yds to Miss State. That is much more than I thought would happen.

Those are uglies 4 wins in a row I have ever seen.

I think the players are playing hard, I think they are being out coached.

    Talented players (CHECK)
    Players playing hard (CHECK)
Players making great individual plays (CHECK)
    Great home field advantage (CHECK)
    Great facilities (CHECK)
    Great fans (CHECK)
    Seems disorganized (CHECK)
Team doesn't seem to know what they want to be (CHECK)

Seems like a coaching problem. IMHO.

Not only did noone ask you, most don't seem to agree with you.

The first comment is emotional and doesn't reflect reality. True, there were a number of holes in the defensive lineups, but the tipped passes made up for 'just enough' of that. The secondary did too much fronting and got burned on occasion. They should learn from that. The defense, as a whole, were finally hitting with some power. Saw none of that in the last few games. Finally, they came together in the last two defensive series. I expect that to continue and improve.

It is true that we won because of some great individual play, occuring at the most opportune times. And at a greater frequency than in the first three games. How is this not improvement?

The offensive line has improved in its pass protection; Jefferson is settling in at QB, even connecting on some longer pass plays, while the line play in the run offense remains a major problem. Other than this, the team had its best showing today.

While the calibre of play is not up to pre-2008 standards, the team has shown major improvement in the last week. I see nothing that would make me think there has not been significant improvement, throughout the early games. Or that there won't be further improvement in the next few weeks, regardless of how we do in the next two games. I do know I haven't thrown in the towel and given up on the season...somethings your posts certainly imply you have already decided to do.

the OL is a serious concern now. id guess its a combo of poor recruiting and coaching but what the hell do i know. i do know i expect the running game and especially the OL to generally be the strength of a team with a former OL as a HC. id like to think its largely chance of the ebb and flow of roster changes year to year. but is it too harsh to say LSU has only one good (above avg SEC) OL? and he seems unmotivated. barksdale has done well considering, but still thats considering. hitt, dvoracek and tbob are undersized (im pretty sure.)

or do TEs and FB matter that much?

    or is it playcalling?

i think its OL because holes didnt start opening up even though jj had decent success.

The main problem with the coaching of the Oline is the lack of bodies. LSU has had a lot of attrition at the position the last few years. But if we would have kept those guys around we would be hearing a different argument today and one that rings similar to giving RP so many chances.

Where have YOU been bra???

The last time MSU played LSU tough was 2000!

    2000: LSU 45 MSU 38 LSU +7
    2001: LSU 42 MSU 0 LSU +42
    2002: LSU 31 MSU 13 LSU +18
    2003: LSU 41 MSU 6 LSU +35
    2004: LSU 51 MSU 0 LSU +51
    2005: LSU 37 MSU 7 LSU +30
    2006: LSU 48 MSU 17 LSU +31
    2007: LSU 45 MSU 0 LSU +45
    2008: LSU 34 MSU 24 LSU +10

It's been the exact opposite. Auburn always plays LSU tough. MSU is dog meat and always takes their beatings. The talent level between LSU and MSU isn't even close.

+10 If that makes me or the other posters unpopular then this site should be declared a religion. We all KNOW we have the talent so what does that leave?? I'm starting to understand why all of the practices are closed and he uses double speak in the press conferences. The excuses are over. They have 1 week before UGA and I don't think the situation looks bright.
