Is it the poor recruiting, poor coaching or both?

We all know that overall, LSU has recruited some of the best players over the past 8 years. At least that's the consensus of the major recruiting services. So the raw talent is there. Of course the things that can't be measured are heart and brains.

So I have to lean toward poor coaching. I can't remember seeing such a poor use of talent on a team. It looks like ole coach Nutt was right when he sarcastically stated that LSU looks great in their uniforms, a backhanded compliment mocking the fact that LSU players don't seem to play up to their potential. Maybe they don't have the brains or heart. I think it's clear to see that Les' recruits aren't as good as Saban's. Either that or Les isn't developing them as well. Last year's record and this years' play thusfar is bearing that out.

We all heard that the defense would be better because Chavis was letting his players play ball instead of read and react. Unfortunately the defense is still getting plays in from the sideline 2-3 seconds before the offense snaps. They play on their heels. They still don't know what they're doing.

The offensive line is weak. Period. On top of that Crowton's play calling is predictable and stupid. Running options to the short side of the field. Really? If he doesn't have confidence in Jefferson I'd take my chances with Lee. We need to give the QB the option to make decisions at the line. Where are the screens? WTF???? Make the defense get out of the box you moron!!! You can't run the ball when they're NOT in the box and yet they continue to attempt to do it with the box loaded. We have a play maker in Shepard yet he's barely used.

This farkin team is so frustrating to watch it's miserable. Where is the fire? The aggression? The passion? This team lacks heart and it's been missing since the 07' championship.

Anyone think Mississippi State has anywhere close to the athletes we have? Not even close.

I guarantee right now this team will lose 4 games this year at least. Florida, Ole Miss and Alabama and at least 1 of the Georgia or Arkansas games. This game remains to be seen. Whether they win or lose the writing is on the wall. This team is not playing up to their potential.

Les has lost his fire and is coaching scared. I want my LSU Tigers back.

We've had alot of attrition on the DL/OL and we're thin. No depth and a lethargic offense = tired DL, tired DL = no push.

You'll take some flack for even suggesting some of this around here, especially during a game, but I think you raise some very valid points and concerns that most of us share.

I don't see how it can be poor recruiting. We've got an arsenal of gifted athletes but we just consistently suffer with execution in too many areas. I don't see how it can be blamed on anything other than some elements of the coaching staff.

At this point it is what it is and we just have to hope for a coming out party to occur soon.

He didn't do it once he did it twice. He does that a lot and I never understand why.

The final score is irrelevant to the facts thus far. I've seen 3 games this year as well as all of last year and the facts speak for themselves. 8-5 last year. Playing poorly against 3 average to bad teams this year.

Les Miles is the least animated, fiery coach I have ever seen. He might as well go sit down, because he definitely doesn't bring any excitement standing up.

Fielding punts at the 5 yard line???? Has this been taught?

    More fine coaching.

I'd suggest you just stop posting until the game ends.
