IMO The 2 best teams should play for the national title. The voters can say that is who they vote for and that the BCS formula is designed to put the "best" 2 teams in there, but as we all know, thats bullsh!t It is not about putting the 2 "best" teams in the country in the title game, its about the 2 "top" teams. Which eliminates a re-match It is more about "what have you done for me lately" and less about a teams complete 12 game body of work. Which is why teams rise and fall towards the end of the season. Perfect Example: LSU wins out, goes 12-0 (in the SEC West) beats 7 ranked teams(2 OOC), 4 ranked teams on the road including #2 Alabama & #3 Oregon, hold the #1 ranking for 9 straight weeks, but then loses in the SECCG to Georgia. I then ask the voters, can you really drop LSU out of the top 2 and eliminate them as one of the best 2 teams in the country???? If OKST and Stanford are unbeaten, I guess you can eh??
I'd love to answer that question but there's too much to write using my phone. A quick answer would be, if you lose to Georgia you're not one of the best teams
I disagree, after what LSU has done, a slip up against Georgia doesnt make them 3rd best or worse. But its not about a win or loss to Georgia, its just about how everybody keeps talking about a LSU/Bama rematch, because its about the 2 "best" teams in the country.
Then again, UGA lost to Boise St. Now you might question the relevance of that, but I would suggest that it is highly relevant to those looking to create the various match-ups. Losing to uga would be a disaster for our title hopes.
I agree, if you have Stanford and Okla St finish the season undefeated, then they are the two best and top teams.
So as long as you play in a AQ conference and have the easiest road to a 12-0 record, that makes you the "best" team in the country? Stanford's big wins will be Washington at Home, at USC, and Oregon at home Now OKST, has been pretty impressive, but their big wins are still only at Texas A&M, K-State at home and OU at home But, it is what it is, and it doesnt really matter cause we are going to beat Georgia anyway
Its really about the top two teams in terms of skill sets. I don't like the idea of a rematch because LSU has already proved itself against that skillets. I think a match against one of the powerhouse offenses is in order.
