I just read an article on CBS and there was a comment that RR's resignation was moved up from Jan 3 after the bowl game up to this past Monday. There is really no reason given as to why other than he didn't think he should coach the bowl game because it would be distracting. Is it possible that Miles contact with UM was to offer input on the potential hire, but to also lobby UM to announce it well before the BCS championship? This would remove the speculation surrounding him at the time and would remove this distraction from the fans and players. Do you think UM made this announcement to get rid of the speculating or was it just UM wanting to get recruits lined up? Either way I'm glad it happened. BTW, I've read some of the complaints by RR on why he shouldn't have to pay the buy out, but unless I did read them all the complaints seemed pretty weak and somewhat inconsequential in making him want to leave.
Yours doesn't. Miles' contact with UM was one last effort to strike a deal but UM still wouldn't throw in free cable AND direct dish for his home so he told them to shove it.
