All I have seen of Ford was the spring game, and they kept giving him the ball and he kept consistently producing, more than the other backs. I don't see how Blue and Ware have passed him, unless it is knowledge of the pass blocking duties. But I'd like to see Ford get his shots in against the enemy defense. His couple carries last night looked productive again, course that D was tired by then.
Could it be that Blue and Ware are going to redshirt, and they will get as much playing time in the first three games? I really can not believe they passed Ford with just fall practice under their belt.
Blue and Ware are playing really well, and we have 3 really good young backs. Maybe that's it. There doesn't need to be such an alarmist tone in every post in the den. Issy, your MO seems to be making these outrageous predictions that make no sense, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but you seriously think Ford's career is over simply because Blue got 5 carries and he only got 3? You have truly 'jumped the shark' as a poster.
That 3 game rule went out the window like 4 years ago. Now if you step on the field and you lose a redshirt unless the player has a season ending injury very early in the season and qualifies for a medical hardship waiver and those restrictions are getting more and more difficult to maneuver around.
Perfect example of why you can't take too much from a spring game. The teams are setup with a mix of 1s, 2s, and 3,s and run very vanilla offense. Plus we had 3 of our best DTs missing from that came and a DE I believe. Blue and Ware were not on campus for the Spring game and both bring something different from the table compared to Ford who is a similar back to Ridley. Ford is also still working on blocking assignments on blitz packages.
