I guess I should clarify my meaning. I don't mean in terms of going out and trying to win. I mean in terms of our record in the W, it has lil effect. If we lose it won't hurt us as ling as we still beat Bama, Ole Miss, Aub, and Ark.
As a FLoridian living in Seattle and having to stomach PAC 10 garbage Iam always amazed at how overrated USC is. Seriously put USC and Boise St for that matter in the SEC for a year and pack some depends diapers for them so when they crap themselves every week they wont spoil their uniforms. Give me a break already.
This is where having the bye week after Florida is a godsend. A loss will give the team time to lick their wounds and refocus on winning the West. More importantly, IMO, if LSU beats Florida, the bye week minimizes the possibility of Auburn being a BIG-TIME trap game. Without the bye, that game has all the makings of one, with an underestimated opponent who is 5-0 right now, and LSU coming off the high of beating the national #1. Remember, the long-term focus and the prize is winning the SEC West, not necessarily beating Florida on Saturday. Auburn is an absolute must-win, Florida is lagniappe, and likely won't hold huge sway in a tiebreaker scenario.
You would definitely say Auburn, Arkansas are must wins because you're favored in those games and can't afford to lose them. Ole Miss and Alabama appear to be must win games, obviously. Being a heavy underdog can't be what you would call a traditional must win game. I want to win a NC. So for me, it's a must win to that end.
Right, and do you think LSU will even get the time of day if a Tebow-less Florida comes into our house and beats us?
I think if LSU wins the game and show up with some offense they will start to get some credit, even if TT is out. The media is not in luv with LSU because of their offensive play. If they come out and put upper thirties plus on what is considered to be a great D, the opinions will start to change. THE LSU OFFENSE HAS TO SHOW UP IN ORDER TO GET SOME RESPECT. :geaux:
if we score in the upper 30's against florida, i think i may have a heart attack. They have only given up 29 points total all year. If we score in the 30's we win that game, the last time anyone scored 30+ on UF was Ole Miss last year with 31. This defense has only allowed 30 + points once all last season, and none this season.
If we are talking about our chances at a MNC game, when we beat UF in the SECC game (with Tebow), this loss to a Tebow-less UF would be forgotten. This is IF there are not 2 undefeated teams...
