id say yes. he and ronnie lott can be interchanged. id say reed is more talented but lott didnt have near the same talent around him so its hard to compare. i mean, reed has ray lewis, rolle pryce, suggs, etc. but what lott brought to that defense was basically on his own. id take reed if i had my choice plus hes a louisiana boy.
Bigger hitter, Ronnie Lott all day long. Bigger impact player, edge goes to Ed Reed. I don't have a problem with either one. I select Ed Reed if I had to make a choice.
Ed Reed needs to be on the Saints. He's from New Orleans, went to Destrehan High. Also, he would be reunited with Vilma and Shockey -- they all three started for the Miami team that won the 2001 National Championship.
Ed Reed could single handedly transform the Saints' defense into one of the 5-7 best defenses in the league.
Ed Reed could easily be considered the best player in the NFL. Of course this is an unprovable statement, but you could definitely produce a solid arguement.
As much as Ed Reed is a turnover machine, I was surprised to find out he wasn't in the top 50 in all-time interceptions. He's close, though, and should get there next year. He has 43 career interceptions. Just 15 more would tie him for ninth all time. All-time interceptions top ten: 1. Paul Krause - 81 2. Emlen Tunnell - 79 3. Rod Woodson - 71 4. Night Train Lane - 68 5. Ken Riley - 65 6. Ronnie Lott - 63 7t. Dave Brown - 62 7t. Dick LeBeau - 62 9. Emmitt Thomas - 58 10t. Mel Blount - 57 10t. Bobby Boyd - 57 10t. Eugene Robinson -57 10t. Johnny Robinson - 57 10t. Everson Walls - 57
