We all recognize that the offensive staff needed an overhaul and Miles seems to be taking care of business there.

Cooper has the DBs and they've been outstanding. Chavis has the LBs and they too have been outstanding. I don't know how many sacks the D-line should get in relation to the LBs and DBs but we're ranked #78 in sacks and almost no one is calling for Brick's job.

Is Brick getting a pass or is he a solid D-line coach? I really don't have a clue and was wondering what everyone thinks and why.

    Hell, lets have a firesale!

    .........

Does anyone realize that maybe too much change in one year would be counterproductive?

one year isnt enough for a D-line coach to actually make an impact, imo.

You do realize that this is his first season here and the next recruiting class will be his first? I think you have to give him more than one season and our best DL all received redshirts this year.

I will give Brick a pass because of what he was working with. I thought Drake Nevis improved as a player. Al Woods was one of the biggest disappointments of all time, Charles Alexander, probably has prosthetic legs he has been injured so many times, congrats on finishing a season by the way Charles, and the ends had never seen significant playing time. If the D Line doesn't improve next year, then the Brick needs to be crushed.

Also, the D-Line did seem to get better as the year went on IMO.

:geaux: I think the biggest problem with the DL is level of talent as compared to years past. IMO, the talent on the DL this year did not measure up to the talent level of LSU DL's of the last few years. Not even close. We do not have any Lavalais, Dorsey's, Jackson's, etc. Haley just had to work with what he had. Believe the DL will be better next year with kids like Downs, Montgomery, Brockers, etc. stepping in to play. Let's see what Haley does next year. :thumb: :LSU231:

all of the above, brick needs more time. he also needs DE's the size of marcus spears and tyson jackson.

    that would help.

Brick deserves a total pass. Its his first year. Its tough to tell if its a lack of technique or talent. I think we have some young talent, but they certainly need molding. I think Montgomery should have played. If for anything as a pass rusher off the end. Alem was shut down this year without a stud on the other side. Aghayere has potential but he has a ways to go. Edwards played well at times, but I think he will morph into a DT more than DE. Clement appears to be very athletic, with potential as well. Just maybe a lil more size. I think this coming year will tell us a lot more about the DL. Brockers could be that big DE like Jackson that could help out next year to free up the pass rusher.

I had big hopes for Nevis. While he was the best DT, he didnt really jump out. I was expecting him to be the next in line of recent stud DTs.

I agree with the sentiment of the thread, this season was not about Brick Haley, it was about a drop in talent on the d-line. Our young players coming up will hopefully be better. Brockers hopefully with be that BIG Tyson Jackson type of end who is both a good pass rusher and strong force against the run.

    Haley gets a pass.
