Robinson and Jones are elite and are 5* for a reason. You can't beat a team stocked with 5* players with a team stocked with 3* players. I'm talking about Alabama here.

Sure you want all the 5*s you can get, especially instate kids. That said many times those 5*s are maxed out. They are so much more physically gifted than their opposition they get by on that alone. Most first round draft picks arent 5*s, the majority are 3*. For every Patrick Peterson there are many more Mo Claibornes.

I dont think there is a serious issue just yet when it comes to losing instate talent but its getting a lil troublesome. Bama is now routinely coming in and stealing talent that LSU wants. As long as Bama keeps winning titles and LSU is second in conference that will continue. We will get most instate kids but LSU has to step up its winning to insure that continues. If we lose top talent, we cant lose to our biggest rival. Its not like LSU is going to pluck talent from their state.

But LSU DOES pluck talent from their state. Kwon Alexander...Andy Dodd...and several others over the past few years have all been "Bama boys." I'll be the first to admit, I think it's highly problematic that Bama is coming in and taking guys. It wouldn't be a big deal if they were getting random guys, but they're getting big-time guys that we really want. But at the same time, we can and do go into other states with big time programs and take guys. Texas, Georgia, Mississippi, and Florida kids know LSU well. And Bama kids see it too.

You're gonna have kids that don't want to stay in state no matter what you say, like McKnight. Then you have kids that we just flat out lose out on like Collins and Robinson. I don't like us losing those kids, but I do like that our program has the integrity to not offer a recruit we really don't want just to get his best friend...or send a silver-tongued Saban worshipping high school coach after a kid's mom just to get to the kid. Or hell maybe we have been doing shit like that and I just don't know about it, lol.

Question. Since the last time LSU finished #1 in recruiting classes under Miles, what are the class rankings after that?

I agree, I do like how Miles tries to find quality kids. I dont mind LSU losing out on Lacey or Sentimore for example. There were reasons why LSU wasnt heavily on them. Bama stayed on them and when LSU came around it was too little, too late. Im fine with that. Bama wasnt heavily after Kwon because he is too small for their LB schemes. Not sure about Dodd. I know LSU is recruiting better than EVER nationally right now. I give Miles a ton of credit for that. Still, we need to make sure that fence stays around La.

Dale Browns's long-time assistant Ron Abernathy was notorious for charming single moms. No cell phones then, they would call the athletic department and ask for "Ronnie". :D

Loston was a 5 star....and he has not flourished despite all those years under Chavis.

The Louisiana house should introduce a bill banning Nick Saban or any other Alabama coach from entering the state, except for 1 time every other year when they come here to play.

Tell you what gumps. Y'all keep the Alabama recruits and we will keep the Louisiana ones.

Alabama is like OU, if they had to rely on in state talent alone they would be sorry as hell.

I don't want Nick cherry picking all of our in-state talent; however, sometimes, too much is made of the 5* designation. We've seen many of them not pan out.

Tirk, I try to be an optimist. What can I say?
